This is also listed as a formal campsite but I wanted to pin it again so people would know it’s free.
It’s a big open field bordering a pond with a walking trail. There are several picnic tables , garbage ( at the trailhead) and a gazebo.
Camping is free. Donations are accepted but I’m not sure where.
We stayed early October and we’re the only people here.
There is a dump station and water fill at the entrance on Hank Snow Road before you actually turn into the camping area
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Stayed the night with a big rig, fantastic!
Short walk to supermarkets, and free power!! Plug in available on the red light posts, 2 points per post. Level spaces
Used the free dump station across the road - not potable water, there's a big sign advising so.
Report Check-InGreat little spot for one night. Dry camping, however there are electrical outlets. They ask that you make a donation to support the Hank Snow center. The RV parking is across the street from the museum.
Report Check-InThe information Visitor Center directed us to this campsite. Yes, it's free! I believe all info in the comments are accurate!
Report Check-InPlease "DO NOT" change this category icon to "established campground". If one is searching for a free camping spot they would not check this on the filter and so miss out on this great spot. Someone did that to the current two icons on the map, there is no intelligence in that. It is Christmas Day and I'm the only one here. The AC outlets on the buildings do NOT work but the AC outlets on the two light poles DO work, a welcome Christmas gift. Please leave the category at "INFORMAL CAMPING". Do not change that icon again. People who are looking for a free camping spot and do not choose "Established Campground" would not find this spot. I suspect summer facilities would be different. There might be more plugins, garbage, toilets. Right now there's a gazebo with a picnic table and two light poles with AC plugins.
