Description

We slept at this location after visiting the "volcano", but you can easily pick any spot just off the road for a nights stop. There are just a handful of farms around and spread sparsely. We parked at 5pm and the only cars that came by were the 3 other visitors of the volcano. During the night we had complete silence, the loudest noise being our own breathing.

Beware of the altitude (3994m) because you can't get to a lower point anywhere in the next 2-3 hours of driving, a coca tea saved us after going up from Nazca in one day.

It's very windy during the day, but completely dies down as soon as the sun sets.

Also fuel up in Nazca (or any bigger town if you are coming from the North / East), because they are no gas stations for about 300-400km. Some tiendas in the villages claim to sell fuel, but I wouldn't count on it.

No cell service at all.

You can camp here everywhere. We camped before the first river crossing. It is a very nice place with super friendly people. There are a few farms nearby, and all the farmers were friendly and welcomed us here. We got an invitation to visit one of the farms. and also the next day they invited us to come and see how they make cheese. We spent almost the whole day with them and just left the tent and the motorcycles next to the river and next to the street. They said it was super safe here, and we didn't have to worry. So we made cheese with them and enjoyed visiting their farm. We spent 3 nights here and felt extremely welcomed. But it is quite cold at night (under 0 degrees).
