Peru
Caution! They built concrete cascades as a river crossing, but they are washed out and slippery as hell because of algae covering it. We drive a heavy 4x4 truck and we're sliding as on soap, 4x4 does nothing. Stay to the uphill part so you don't slide downhill and potentially flip upside down. There are deep holes on the uphill side though, so you will get into a very uncomfortable slant will sliding uncontrollably. Fun times... (level of algae might depend on season)
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
If you’re going from Carapo towards Nasca, the road already takes you to the new bridge (and then the red bridge) avoiding this cascade river crossing. Road has a lot of potholes but doable with 2WD.
Report Check-InCrossed with 2wd high clearance SUV. BUT!!!The holes on the upper part are very deep and there is a high risk of breaking something while crossing. Better to use the bridge a bit further up the road (maybe 1 km).
Report Check-Inupdate: maps.me sent us the old way. to avoid this section cross the red bridge and then the brand new metal bridge.
