Rolled in from a crazy drive from Yuma this morning. Highway 8 is flat for a very long time until you hit the mountains. Unbelievable. Boulders pile on top of boulders to make mountains. We arrived in San Diego on a Saturday of a long weekend. It was packed downtown. So we drove north to our failsafe Walmart. It’s actually beautiful here. Very clean. Very modern. Very California. Not far from the botanical gardens. Tomorrow we will find a place closer to San Diego in order to check out the zoo and the aircraft carrier museum. I could stay here for a month. Only 25 minutes north of San Diego. But I would like to be on the beach. I am excited to see the sunset over the Pacific Ocean as I am from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, almost as Far East as you can go in North America.

Pulling in around 11pm nice and quiet seems chill.

Great spot, spent last night here, it was quiet and not much going around to disturb your sleep.
There was 3-4 other vans around.

Stayed behind the REI one night with the company of a few other stealth campers. Nice trail to walk the dog behind the store.

I got the vibe that this is one of those arrive late, stay contained, stay quiet, and leave early places.

Report Check-In

my boyfriend and I have already spent the third night here. It was super quiet and nobody bothered us. there were also other campers here. everyone was calm and peaceful. the police come to the parking lot once every evening and make their rounds to show a little presence. but if we hadn't come out of the Walmart when the police were there we probably wouldn't have noticed. a really great place! definitely to be recommended.
