Description

Peaceful place under electric pylon. We took a small piste off the main road, drove about 400 m and we turned left when we saw the pylons. (There were no electric wires when we were there in 2022.) We slept under the first pylon. We also got a bit of signal with Orange. Nothing special but peaceful for a night.

Stayed in the big open field with the little mushroom mounds that another poster mentioned. (Not on the pin of the original poster). Follow road towards hotel and then you’ll find the cutoff under the power lines. As soon as we got here 5 teenage boys showed up. They sat staring at us from a few meters away. No smiles, playing with knives and machetes. Unsure if they were trying to act intimidating or if they were just curious. We tried to talk to them and they wouldn’t talk. Finally we asked to take a photo with them and they posed, still no smiles. I took out a little package of crackers and offered them some and everything changed. They were laughing and joking with each other and all took off and we never saw them again. Later in the evening a security guard for the hotel was walking to work and stopped for a chat. He was super kind and told us no problem for camping here. Several other people walked by in the morning but did not stop. Not a lot of smiles other than the security guard, but no problems either.

Late update : I probably added that place too early in IOverlander. After sunset, a guy showed up at camp and sticked around for 2 hours, asking reapitidly for money ("10 000 CFA is nothing for you, you have money, you are white, etc...").The only way to get rid of him was to go in our truck but it didnt feel that safe, even if the guy wasnt agressive. Next morning at 7h30, that same person showed up again ! We left asap... That is why I closed the place the next day. I should have update as well. Glad that some people didnt have any bad encounters and could spend a quiet night at that spot.

Big open plain with mushroom termite mounds, nice spot for the night out of Bissau as the road was taking longer than we thought! Probably don’t need 4x4 and fine for big rigs

If you keep going there’s a hotel at the end of the road (didn’t go in, just noted it for security)

Don’t know why it’s been marked as closed
