On the side of Highway 1. No "No" signs. Wide strip of hard packed sand, with a wide concrete pull-off between it and Highway 1.
4 full bars from Verizon - even with my Reflsctix up. Great signal.
Stayed here one night from 4:30 pm to 9:00 am, saw cops pull pass me while I was cooking. They clearly saw me, and didn't even slow down.
Highway 1 is pretty busy, but traffic pretty much stops by 10:30 pm.
You can hear the ocean from one side, and a cacophony of frogs from the other.
Downside is the sand has deep tracks in it, so I'd stay parked on the concrete part if it has been raining hard and long. But only out of an abundance of caution.
There is an "Unstable Cliffs" sign, so I would not walk past it.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
State Park Ranger drove thru around 9pm and told me I had to leave by yelling out of his truck. Far less jarring than a knock. Told me I had to go to a campground and where two were. I just drove to the dog park area in Half Moon Bay.
They probably kick ppl out of every unmarked pull out on the hwy around here.
Report Check-InStayed here for 24 hours in a van with no issues. Set up starlink on coastal side of van to hide off road which calibrates to face west over the water with no obstruction
Report Check-InI arrived just after sunset around 7:45 and left around 8:30 the next morning. As others have said, road traffic decreased at night. It didn't seem like it would be easy to find a level spot but it worked for the night. I felt safe and no one bothered me
Report Check-InNice big pullout with wide paved strip and wide dirt area. As noted by OP, some areas are very rutted out from people driving in mud. Standing water remains in the deepest tracks even a week after rain came thru. Use caution especially if arriving after dark.
There are some cute little paths along the cliff edges and an area around the “danger unstable cliffs” sign that would be perfect for tent camping. There is a call box at the other end.
There was a lot of traffic noise when I arrived around sunset until probably 7 PM or so. Then it was pretty quiet until about 6 AM. Several other people stopped to check out the views and then left; an RV joined me to camp at some point after I had gone to sleep.
I had 2-3 bars of Verizon LTE most of the time. Enough to watch youtube!
