Egypt
In this checkpoint you will be stopped by the army. If it's too late (after 17-18 pm.) they won't let you go since they say its too dangerous. But everything works randomly here. They will let you go or not if the captain in charge is in the mood.
We tried going cycling from this checkpoint to Qena, around 7 in the morning to have enough time. At the beginning they wanted to let us go. Then the new shift arrived and they didn't let us go. 2 hours discussing. After they agreed to stop a car for us and load our bicycles on. We we jumped in and had already cover 20km distance from the checkpoint, the driver got a phone call from the army (?) and asked him to turn around and leave us again at the checkpoint since it was too dangerous for us to be in a van. As ridiculous as it sounds, this is what happened. So take care if you are riding a bicycle over here.
Two other croatian travelers, going by motorcycle were also stopped by the police and they couldn't continue to Qena/Luxor
