Lake Olmsted Park | Informal Campsite

We arrived here at 4pm. The lower parking lot right on the lake had quite a slope so we parked in the upper lot near the lodge. nice and even and a wonderful view onto the lake. Took a walk along the lake/river path. There is hermit living in his station wagon in the parking lot. Spoke to some park users and everyone knows him....said he has been there for 5 years and is totally harmless. The lodge was closed but magically opened early in the morning so we had washroom and hot and running water (although we also had these in oir Class B motorhome). Park signs said the park closes at 10p, but there are no "no overnight parking" signs. The locals told us it was fine - and it was. there were some late evening cars driving through the lot until about 10l...perhaps just people wanting an evening look at the lake. Had a wonderful sleep and pulled out at 9am

This park is open 24/7 no signs about parking or stipulating park hours. plenty of parking options around this area for all sized rigs. there's a really nice trail that follows the river with disc golf courses as well. Felt safe, was quiet, lovely views. would definitely stay here again.
