This is a very special place. The view is spectacular. Justin suggested we hike 20 minutes to a bluff above the campground. It was stunning. We spent quite a bit of time on the bluff watching whales. We highly recommend staying here!

Breathtaking views from the campsites. Black flies are terrible in August, however. The hike to Meat Cove beach alone was worth the drive. Be aware that there are long stretches of gravel roads leading to this campsite which have lots of ruts and potholes, so a 4x4 is a good idea in order to get here. They can accommodate up to class C in size but it is hard to maneuver around the other rigs. WIFI is slow as well. Awesome location so long as you can reach it!

Simply waw!!! You have to camp here, really worth the drive. I’ll be back here for sure. Parked on the side of the cliff with view of the ocean and the calming music :)

My favorite part of the Cabot Trail , No heat in cabins. epic views, good food from lawless Lobster truck. groovy beach area.

Meat Cove Campground was closed for the season but we were more then welcome to stay. Awesome views. The trail nearby is a must do!

$46 with taxes. Few level places for small RV. Very windy. Clean showers and drinking water supply. Great hosts. Splendid 20 minutes hiking trail to the top of the mountain with 360 view.

We managed to drive carefully in with 18ft trailer and stay 2 nights. Call in before to make sure there is space. We were very lucky with calm seas to use rented kayaks and visit the beautiful waterfall just to the east from meatcove beach. Wowwww ..... see photo

The view is worth the high price. $46 with tax per night with no hookups or dump. Clean hot showers, good wifi, nice beach and plenty of hiking trails. Saw seals and eagles. No problem getting there towing a 13’ trailer. A real gem!

WOW! Spectacular ocean front camping. It is well worth the drive; we had no trouble at all in our Sprinter van, we just had to go slowly as the dirt road is riddled with pot holes and wash boards. The chowder hut is awesome and the staff are lovely. It appears that every camp site has a stunning view of the ocean and cliffs, each equipped with a picnic table and fire pit. Be advised that it's first come first served, no reservations. Therefore if you are coming in July or August during peak season, you'll want to arrive early. Also, be sure to dump waste tanks before arriving as there is no dump station on site. Fresh water is available, as are hot showers and flush toilets. WiFi is available and both Bell & Rogers has a strong signal for those that need to stay connected.

One of the most scenic campsites. Run by a lovely family who also run the chowder house which many people come to enjoy. Non serviced sites, each with picnic table and fire pit. Some drive-in sites for small rigs, some tent only access. A big rig that came in could only be accommodated in the restaurant parking lot (which is not large). $40.25 for us with a boler type camper. New washroom facility with flush toilets and free hot shower. Great hikes, particularly Little Grassy. Quite windy when we were there. They also have little cabins for rent which some tenters decided to use as it was windy and rainy. The chowder was delicious, we learned the recipe changes with what is available seasonally. The road is quite rough. It’s slow going. We had a cabinet door pop open, spilling items into our camper. The only spot for a big rig to turn is at the restaurant. We were there off season so it was doable, I don’t know how it could be done in season with the crowd that must be present then. Great spot but think twice about heading down this road if it is a challenge for you to turn around.

Excellent campground, friendly people, pet friendly. Just stayed one night got rained out in the morning but still had a spectacular time... definitely worth the drive up here, I drove a Audi A4 Quattro Convertible with a trailer and stayed at campsite 7 on the hill great view and car accessible.

A few updates: the road IS a bit hectic in places (we have a 22’ Sprinter) but it was being graded literally as we drove. It’s doable and as others have said, so worth it. I suspect they grade often in season. Just go slow and try to avoid the divots as best you can. It’s $35 CAD to camp and there’s a sink to do dishes, a tap to refill your tank, and the shower house is BRAND NEW. The builder is still doing finishing touches and says it opened two weeks ago. They now have two sinks, two toilet stalls, and two showers in each half. It smells like a sauna with the new wood and obviously is still quite pristine looking. There are beautiful trails, lovely beach, quiet nights, and amazing chowder. What else do you need? (WiFi is slow and spotty but adequate if you want to say, find your next stop, as opposed to download a season of Broadchurch... you’re not here for that anyway, right?) :)

Place is full for a Monday. Campsite #26. None the less, fantastic destination! Justin, who runs the campsite was very hospitable and found myself & a lrg RV sites for the night and recommended a overlook hike just up the road. No showers, facility being built by Justin and should be operational by Wed. Adding another shower/water closet & vanity.

Ate at the chowder hut. A bit expensive. Beautiful scenery. I don't pay to camp.

You are not at meat cove for a resort....you are there for the sea food chowder, the whales which there were pods and pods, we could here them letting air out their blow holes, for the views and for the amazing and incredible experience of a 9 km dirt track ride to the edge of Cape Breton.....it IS rugged but it THE most amazing experience, you simply should NOT miss this!!! The sea food chowder is THE ABSOLUTE best I had on the entire east coast! We didn’t camp here, drove in and out in one day.....but next time I WILL most definitely stay at least a couple days!! Kim

If you have an RV you’re likely going to have a bad time. A small trailer, a van, pick-up or the tenting seems most realistic.

If you’ e gone this far it means. you’re willing to make the trip here and you’ll understand that the quirks are why you’re coming. You’re not going to regret this. It isn’t the place for someone looking for luxury or for some the “basics”. You’re here because it’s the edge of the world, the view is unreal, the adventure of getting here is part of the charm, the foods good, the people are amazing and you can’t not smile when you look around you.

Make the trek it’s worth it.

Great view and nice location (definitely 5 stars), facilities are only average. Positively we could fill up our water tank with fresh water (no dumping possible, though). Paid 40$ for a RV with 2 people.

Report Check-In

The views are 5 star and that is why you should go here. On the campground you won’t find an even spot unless you’re with a small tent. There is only one toilet and 1 not very well functioning shower for all females (same for the men) and both are very old. Unfortunately no signs of whales, moose, eagles; luckily someone brought her dog ;-). WiFi is free but doesn’t really work, most of the time.

More than 40$ is a lot oft money for no dump station, no electricity and no tabs to fill water for motorhomes. Wifi is good.

Beautiful views - remote spot. Just remodeled the chowder Hut- surprisingly great food! Lots of small trails in the area. One trail starts at the campground- others start from the "tourism center" which is more like a small house/cafe down the road.
