Description

We found this hotel by chance, after considering more expensive and much less comfortable autohotels.

We are so happy we did!
We paid 150Q per night for a room with 2 double beds, cold shower (no need for hot water, it was really hot), stable wifi.

The hotel offers 2 types of room, we chose the more expensive in the main building with the door rooms opening on a long terrace/balcony.

Very clean, green landscape with banana trees and other plants over a nice grass area.

We ended up staying 18 nights after a difficult border experience. Julio and Miriam are amazing, they will happily tell you about the area and recommend food. We encouraged Miriam to offer her cooked dishes to their guests as she is an outstanding cook!
Julio is always ready to engage in deep conversations, the couple became great friends of ours and we look forward to meeting them again.

We could relax there and while in the city center of Coatepeque, the hotel feels like a bubble surrounded by greens.

The cheaper room was 60Q per person.

Julio said he could host a big rig or 2, as well as a couple of tents, check with him.

Latest Check-Ins

We are back in the hotel for the third time in 3 years so we figured it's time to write another review.

We love staying here for the affordable yet comfortable and clean rooms and for the owners! Julio and Miriam, although a bit shy at first, are simply adorable and have become friends of ours.

Don't hesitate writing Julio en Whatsapp and asking him about the area, to indicate to you if there is a feria or other event in town.

This hotel in the town of Coatepeque is the perfect spot to recharge after crossing into Guatemala from Mexico or to regroup before a morning crossing into Mexico (as borders we believe are better crossed in the morning: should any problem arise, you won't get stuck overnight at a border, we did it and it's no fun).

The hotel is quiet, the room spacious and clean, with ceiling ventilator, cold water shower but with the temperature here it is welcome. Room for 2 is 150Q

There is another room type that is smaller and cheaper. bathroom is shared and the rooms are less spacious.

The hotel is in the center of Coatepeque, a 5mn walk from the park, multiple supermarkets, tiendas, pharmacies, and restaurants. an 8 minute walk from the market which is one of the biggest, most organized and most abundant we've visited. And opened everyday, the biggest day remaining Sunday.

If you have a car, make this your base and go visit the Chicabal Laguna, it is a marvel.

We will make a film of our time in a Guatemala and in particular around Coatepeque but for now you can already check our previous films on our website or various platforms:

Stayed here before crossing the border to Mexico. Very helpful and welcoming people. Great location. It is walking distance to the Center but quiet at night.
Big parking lot and Julio says he is open to also hosting people staying in their vehicles.
We stayed in a room as we had to repack and clean out our car a bit but could cook dinner in our camper kitchen :)

This place still open. Paid 110Q for a basic twin room with private bathroom and fan. Agree with previous comment, lady who runs the place is super nice and friendly. Plenty of parking for motos and overland vehicles.
