Saudi Arabia
The mountain road to Medina is supposed to be closed (big road sign when arriving at Al Sudayrah) but finally possible with 4 wheel drive (I climbed it with a bicycle but saw few cars going). It looks like they are making another road not far, to avoid this flood-prone valley

Crazy engineering to put a tarmac road on this steep of an incline. Road officially closed but roadblocks can be passed by cars and motorbikes. 90% of the steep part is tarmac, some very uneven off road, but very manageable with 4x4.
We drove uphill from Yambu to Medinah, which is easier than the other way around I think.
Definitely not suitable for 2wd or big rigs.
Report Check-InNice scenic drive, the broken road adds to the remote feel of the mountains. Easily possible with off road capable motorcycle or 4x4.
Report Check-InYes the road is blocked from both sides but we passed this point on our way from Medina towards Yanbu. We saw two cars coming up and asked whether the road is accessible. The answer was yes with 4x4 very manageable.
The barrier looks old and we didnt see any cunstruction going on, the project seems abandoned… Going downhill the blocked road took us only 10 minutes. So it’s fine.
