Description

Official customs drive through, as described in the Carmen border crossing. If nothing to declare, drive straight through. A SAT agent checked in the back of our truck and asked if we had drugs or anything to declare. We also had to provide our TVIP, which we had already gotten at the border.

Coming from Guatemala into Mexico a quick check of the TIP; asked if we bought anything in GT and we told her we had a few souvenirs. She asked to look inside, I opened the door but she didn’t inspect anything. Very friendly, professional and we were on our way in a few minutes.

We passed at 5 pm. We were one of the vehicles that had to stop (the only one that we saw actually). They asked for our TIP and passport, within 5 mins we were in the road again. They didn’t ask anything, neither did they check the insides of our car (only the plate number and VIN)

Report Check-In

Nobody and nothing here today, everything is clear.

Report Check-In

A guy with a badge saying “agencia aduanal L& R” that said he is a “gestor aduanal” and he wanted to help us avoid long line up at the border and save us time by stamping the Bajercito VIP out for us to ease the process. he wanted to jump in and willing to take us to the border to do the paperwork. We said we were not crossing the border until tomorrow and he said he would meet us at the border. He did not ask for money at all. We met him next day at the border, he said he is there every day not just for us, and we said we did not want his help, then he left to bother others

Report Check-In

They are only checking Northbound side. South is clear.

Report Check-In

North bound only and what a long experience.

We were ‘randomly’ selected for a search. Our jeep was sent through the x-ray, they removed some things and sent us through again. They removed some more things and sent it through again. This time they removed everything from a very large storage compartment including our tools, solar system, radios and clothing, everything was set on display on tables.

They sent a dog in the jeep and the dog absolute loved the jeep, he laid down on our dogs bed and was forcefully removed :). Actually he left with a toy which was politely returned.

The personal we were dealing with were nice but the scans required internal evaluation. All in all I think it may have been the radios they were looking for.

It took two hours.

Worst then the border near Tuxtla Chico.. Not to mentioned we didn’t have our TIP to exit Guatemala (a story to tell on that location point)
..
We have a black RV, 2 girls and 2 cats traveling from Canada, going back to Canada. We had just crossed the border and yet they put us through the big scanner. We waited a very long time for the first come back of the result. They had seen a strange form in our capucine (front top of the van where there is normally a bed but we put our storage there)... They searched with a dog inside the van, sniffing all around but not opening anything. The dog seemed agitated outside of the van, wanted to grab the phone of the police officers(2 women btw). Anyways, they didn’t found anything, we had nothing to hide. They made us take out some stuff of our storage where the strange form was and pass through the scanner again.. every time we had to take all living things out of the van, so cats out standing out in the rain. I thought the form was my gambal (camera équipement), so I took it out too and that was it. They didn’t saw it on the second scanner. So after about 1:30 we were free...
Still the girls were very nice. But the man, when we arrived at first, they were really rude and talking to us like we were dumb...

Report Check-In

Yeah this is so wierd. Feel like your doing the boarder crossing all over again.

Report Check-In

You should definitely not go through the commercial truck entry with an RV. We did that based on previous comments and it was the wrong way. We were told that we should have taken the car entry. They just checked documents.

Report Check-In

huge vehicle inspection point, we are an rv and drove through the cars gate and got told we are a truck so be cautious. they check for fruit and veg, alcohol and cigars. we had bought veg at the mexian border and they said that is allowed but im not sure how they know? then the rv had to go through an xray machine as well.
