Nice place to camp at the lake, opposite the Church, good for swimming. Must take the bridge 5km away and drive on a relatively good off road. you can do it with 2wd.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Beautiful spot and still accessible ! Quiet with nice view. You can make campfire. Good reception also.
Report Check-InNice place, plenty of wood for fire, the small bridge close to the place so to reach the place you need to take the working bridge which is about 5km away (42.1993435, 44.6768483). There are some fisherman here.
Report Check-Inwe stayed one night here during the week, cand no other camper. place is quiet at night. because of the first broken bridge, you will need to do around 5 km on a dirt road.
In the afternoon we met the owner of the land right next to this place and the mountain behind, and he is hoping to open a paragliding center this August, so the landing area would be right next to this Io place, so could be busy in the future. the owners is a really nice guy who is a paragliding instructor in Gudauri. and he is in the process of cleaning up the area
Camped here for a night with a motorcycle. Nice view of the lake and monastery, but lots of trash all over and about 10 or so other campers (we were here on a Sunday night). Around 1am, some guys rolled up nearby and started firing guns (presumably into the air - we didn't see them, but heard them clearly). I didn't feel unsafe but that was not enjoyable.
And to be clear, the bridge from Ananuri is completely out. A large section on the south end is simply missing, so we did as the prior commenter suggested and took the bridge further north.
Report Check-InLovely spot by the reservoir with view of the church across the water. Also highly recommend a pre-breakfast swim in in the morning sun.
Judging by the number of fire pits it must be a popular spot with locals but when we were here on a Wednesday night in June we were alone, except for a few horses.
The narrow metal bridge at Ananuri was badly damaged when we visited so we couldn't cross in our 4wd and had to use the bridge near Pavleuri instead. Inspect the bridge before driving over if unsure of current condition.
Report Check-InNice spot along the lake. A few fire rings so I guess in the summer it can be a bit crowed but in late September we were alone.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot at the lake. Easy to reach. Some fishermen were here, they welcomed us with food and drinks.
There is quite some litter around, we filled 2 20l bags and took it with us.
4G internet coverage (Geocell)
Great camping with nice view next to the old tower. Old fire places can be used. Cows walk around too.
Report Check-InWe were here in mid holiday season and this place had a few groups of young drunk men. They did not even look at us, but we still moved on s this is not the kind of crowd you want around you when camping. It will probably be just fine out if season
Report Check-InAlthough we didn't swim because of all the trash in the water, this is a nice place to camp. In the morning, we were visited by a growling dog, a fisherman and a herd of cows.
Report Check-InNice place to camp at the lake, opposite to the Church, good for swimming.
