Permit to visit Hatra | Customs and Immigration

According to multiple Mosul guides it is not possible to buy tickets at Hatra gate. So tickets must be bought in Mosul at the moment. Maybe this will change again in the future.

This ticket office is temporarily closed, probably because of major road works in front of the office. They expect it to be open again in a week or so.

Temporary ticket office is located at: 36.337909, 43.138648. Still 25.000 per ticket.

As of April 204, the 25'000 Dinar ticket for Hatra can be bought directly at the archaeological site. I visited Hatra today. Had to explain it to the soldiers at the 3 checkpoints that the ticket system has changed. When I arrived, the site guard made a phone call to the site manager who arrived 15 minutes later and sold me the ticket.

Muddy stretch of road to get to the barrier. Office closes from midday Thursday to Monday. So no way to purchase tickets if you arrive in Mosul in one of these days. A pity.

Office starts at 9 am. Leave the car before the barrier and go as the pavement goes to the very last building. The ticket lady sits in the last room at the left. Just pay, 5 mins.

This is the place where you need to buy tickets and get permission to visit Hatra. The officer responsible for this is called Osama.

25K IQD for foreigners
3K IQD for locals

To make life easier at checkpoints, It’s best to ask them for an A4 document with a copy of passport and Iraqi VISA + their signature, as well as written in Arabic that everything has been checked and you are allowed to enter Hatra (you can show this paper at checkpoints).
