Latest Check-Ins

This spot is in disrepair and feels a bit weird, just like the town (the mummy museum is closed). The only big, shady spot has two dilapidated, empty vehicles in it that seem to be there permanently. We didn't feel comfortable camping here or even staying for a little while.

Report Check-In

We wanted to stay here but when we arrived a truck parked at the right entrance so we could not get to to picnic tables. The left part of the bridge is not suitable for our Sprinter, maybe with a small car you can fit. We drove to the Plaza but it also did not feel good as you are very obvious with the few people being there, “staring” at you. They are probably nice, but still weird to park there. So we drove to the place further down the river (on iOverlander) and slept there, sandy but quiet and nobody around except Lamas.

Very nice and calm place!

We spent one night and it felt really safe.

There is three concrete tables with some benches next to the river and space to park four normal size cars.

we stayed 1 night here...a little colder than expected

Report Check-In

Free, flat space on both sides of the bridge. Quiet location with some picnic tables and barbecue-pits. Small village square with WiFi at 150 across the bridge (see description). Nice place to spend a night or two.

This is a private location. We met the old man leaving there, spoke a bit with him. He firstly gave us 2 other places to go to sleep, then he told us we could stay and use his bathroom and kitchen. Really nice guy!

We had intended to spend the night here but got caught up in Antofagasta. came through as a put stop on the way to Iquique. recommend it as a stop for the night. quiet, lovely river, no facilities but some tables and tucked away.

Report Check-In

Didn’t like this place at all. The village looks down on you and the closed buildings next to you are not very inspiring. Left for a better place a few kms furher.

Report Check-In

Safest and driest place on Earth (really, 0.2 mm in 40 years).
you can ask for a bathroom at the firemen station or at the posta (little hospital) next to it.

Small place with some tables. The people from the village call it Camping Municipal. In reality there are no facilities at all. But quiet and nice spot, we felt save and welcome in the village. Temperature at night 5°C.
