Something not right?

Description

Very small camp for Kruger NP standards, about 15-20 stands only, book at one of the other camps or gates, checkin at Olifantsrus, no electricity but good ablutions with hot showers and paraffin lamps and kitchen area, taps and braai stands, game not as dense in the area but nevertheless our favourite Kruger camp due to being so small and quiet.

Should also note: we also did the walking tour here from Olifants, they were nice enough to pick us up, but the tour itself wasnt worth the $$$. You just do a little loop through the bush & stop for a snack for 30-mins. Do the walking tour down south, not here :)

Great spot!
Got one of the last spots in camp, back left corner #4? was open, large, no shade on the fence. Upside was having the hyena arms length away roaming by trying to figure out how he'd get our sausage off the braai and into his mouth. Also 3G service from Oilfants was enough for messages and sloooooow data. Vivian was looking after the camp, super clean, fridges were clean, and she came around at night with her daughter? Lots of hippo, hyena nose all night. Dont miss the bat house in the chalet camp next door. 100+ bats come out just as the sunsets !

We've been to 6 campsites in Kruger and this one was one of our favorite. It's small, not too crowded. Most spots are close to the fence which is nice. No electricity but the very nice caretaker lady would switch on oil lamps in the toilets, kitchen area etc during the night. The best thing was not having to queue up for game driving in early morning! Good internet connection with Vodacom.

A small and beautifull campsite conveniently located in the centre of the Kruger National Park. It has spacious sites, some with threes, others without any shade but a stunning view. While there is no electricity, there are paraffine lamps in the ablutions and central cooking area. The campsite is well taken care of by the staff and the cooking area as a fridge and freezer (which was a bit smelly). Do be wary of the hyenas that roam around the perimeter of the campsite. They sometimes manage to sneak in, apparently.

Great campsite, just about 12 spots, hyenas regularly patrolling around the fence, you cam hear the hippos from the river. Very clean ablutions but they have no electric light and the paraffin lamps don't provide much light - so either bring a lamp or come into the camp around 5pm latest to have a chance for daylight. Great camp altogether - would definitely go again!

Report Check-In

Small campsite but big enough for our big rig. At night Hyena patrol the fence so just after dark you can see them. They are very tame (due to being fed) and come very close, good chance to see them (but don't feed them!).

Have been our favorite camp in KNP for years. Quiet, no electricity, paraffin lamps, nice ablutions.

Report Check-In

We checked in at Olifants for 2 nights. Paid R287,85 for 2 people p night.
Really have the feeling your sleeping in the park with the sound of lions and off course the hyenas around the camp. We liked the environment around Olifants river. But this area was still very dry, so not much big game around.

Report Check-In

Small camp. Check in at Olifants or Satara camps. Pitches almost all next to fence where hyenas patrol day and night, apparently. Like almost all South African campsites cramped pitches, braai smoke everywhere, and very expensive. Certainly not the worst campsite in Kruger though. Quiet at night, lots of sounds from nature, watertaps everywhere. No electricity though, so bring a flashlight if you want to use ablutions at dusk, when the paraffin lights aren't lit yet.

Our favourite camp in Kruger. Check in at Olifants. Small and quiet by SAN Parks standards. Feels a bit more 'Wild'. No electricity but hot water. Great hyena sightings. Wild recommend.

Report Check-In

Small quiet camp with lots of trees. Lions roaring in the night. Very nice. No electricity, but a little bit more expensive than other camps. 274R fio two, additional Person 82R, child41R

small camp but that keeps it quiet, central area is shady and lush green grass (not for vehicles), no electricity which makes it very atmospheric with the paraffin lamps in bathrooms and kitchen area.
Close to but not really overlooking river.
we stayed end Nov 2016 and paid 503.50 for a site for 2 people.
for atmosphere this camp scores highly.
very good.
