Sometimes the person in charge doesn’t allow refills, if so you can head to plaza los mangos, 100m south from la colonia, the security guard is a nice guy and will show you where the water tap is.

We asked for permission from the guard who asked us to go to the store manager who refused when asked to fill 40 liters.

Threaded taps for a hose all over the lot. Guard said all are potable and that they drink the water. No leak connection and insane pressure! Most pressure I’ve ever had filling up my tank. Took about 2 minutes for 100 liters 😎

free potable filtered water, according to guard, tastes good, ask guard for permission is good etiquette, tap located on small strip of grass surrounded by carpark bitumen, close to main entrance of shops, can fit a water jerry can underneath

This La Colonia supermarket has a tap just out front the main entrance on a small grassy area by the parking lot. The friendly guard said it is potable and encouraged us to refill our 20L container at no cost. It has a thread for a hose but best to ask the guard first before refilling.
