Located on the boundary of the North Cascades National Park, in the NC National Forest (dispersed camping allowed). Spacious, quiet place in between trees with multiple fire rings, on a steep bank of the Bacon Creek, with a narrow entrance and a mud pool in the middle. The road up here is potholed and not suitable for RVs and trailers.

Fabulous view on this pristine teal water from the campsite. Super quiet. LOVE it. This forest is magical. Thanks again Overlanders for making this road trip the best ever!! Please pack in pack out (no toilet paper in the bushes m)! Let’s keep this place clean!
Report Check-InLWB Ram Promaster Van - the road is okay if you drive _very_ slowly! Huge potholes. There are various pullouts along the way, most were occupied. We went all the way up past a cabin and turned around at what looked like a redneck encampment. About .5km before the house is the main “group camp” which was occupied by some people with guns and dirtbikes. The noise died down after I assume they were drunk/stoned. We ended up in a pull-out about half way back to the road.
Report Check-InThere were potholes but we off road quite a bit so we didnt think they were bad in his truck and this camp spot is beautiful. We went to the end and there were several people so we turned around and chose one of the pull offs right by the river. we heard someone pass in the morning but other than that we had the entire spot to ourselves
Report Check-InSpent the final two nights of our time in the us at bacon creek which proved a blessing for hiking within north cascades & beyond that a nice end to a great trip
Report Check-InLarge area for multiple rigs (I’d guess 6-8 depending on how everyone parked), couple of fire rings and overall it’s really well kept. Incredible view of the stream which can be accessed by a nice footpath. 4-wheel drive isn’t necessary, however a higher clearance vehicle is 100% required because of the potholes getting to the camp site. Entering the campsite it’s a squeeze, we fit with our GX460, but anything much larger than a standard vehicle will be tight.

We arrived at 14:00 (2pm) on a Saturday in July, and we did NOT block the entrance. Three passing cars allowed us privacy. A motorcyclist pitched a tent just before sunset, but left in the morning. All of Sunday, people parked their cars elsewhere to not bother us. We stayed two nights.
Getting to the river is tricky. Someone got in trouble in the mud pool; made a deep rut and had to use a lot of wood to get their vehicle out. Remarkably little garbage!
Should you find this site occupied: there is a reasonably private spot at 48.60601° N, 121.39893° W, a little up hill on the FS development road across from here.
Report Check-InBeautiful hidden gem in the north cascades next to the skagit river. The road is narrow at some points and there are quite a few pot holes. There is a small clearing above the river a few miles in that you can drive into.
Report Check-Ina little muddy and a little snowy Friday night 12-3-21. Easily got my kia soul a few miles up, past both cabins but did not pass overflowing Oakes creek. Drive out was a little tricky when four members of the second cabin seemed to abandon cars in the middle of the road overnight.
Report Check-InWe drove up the mountain past the coordinates and found a large flat camping spot. High above the river, peaceful.
Report Check-Inthe 1.5 mile road up was loaded with massive potholes, not recommended for low clearance. the site itself was nice. there's a steep slippery trail down to the river, proceed with caution. the entrance is quite narrow, as described by others.
Report Check-InAmazing spot right along the river on a high bank. Like others said, it is a tight squeeze between two trees, but room for 4 to 5 vehicles moderately spaced apart.
There is a nice trail down to the water with a gravel bar for easy access to get water.
Very nice spacious area above creek. Small steep trail down to water. Very green and beautiful mossy trees. People left some garbage (ew) which is not nice for when others come to this otherwise pristine place. Great location to rappel down to water. Fire rings in several areas here. We were only ones here at this time. The deep gorge location reminds my husband of scenes from movie Deliverance!
Report Check-InNice spot with a very narrow entrance. Virtually no sun here so after 2 days, we needed sun for charging the batteries via solar. There are small biting nats of some sort, mostly at night and mornings. They are subtle when they bite, but when they start itching later you will know they got you. I would recommend long sleeves and pants rather than shorts for prevention.
Report Check-InYes, it’s nice a quiet. There’s no toilet here. People, please bury, burn or pack out your damned toilet paper and garbage. Respect others’ privacy—this site it too small for more than one or two rigs. Thoughtless campers are ruining this place.
Report Check-InSimilar to the most recent response, I parked at a pull off along the road. The main camp was taken and looked a bit swampy from rain. At the pulloff, I slept to the sounds of the creek which is all I really wanted. No cars drove the gravel road at night, but one or two so far this morning.
I like this place!
I almost stayed at Washington Pass (on the other side of NCNP), but more remote and in nature here.
Thanks overlander! Travel well y’all!
Report Check-InBEAUTIFUL view of the river. Like others, there was one camper blocking the entrance and we had to park in a pullout, but that space was still lovely! No cell signal, only a few hours of sun during midday for solar.
Report Check-InVery narrow entrance. As mentioned, could have fit 3-4 vehicles but the one vehicle who got there prior to my arrival parked in the middle leaving no room for access.
Stayed the night at a pulloff down the road instead. It had a great little sandy spot right by the river's edge.
Report Check-InNice place and room for many vehicles... if they don't park straight into the middle! Thankfully, there is many pull outs along this road. Only 3 cars drove by in the evening and 1 in the morning, so it is pretty quiet, at least on a week day.
Report Check-InBeautiful camp spot. Tight squeeze between trees. Dirt road with a few pot holes and some over grown berry bushes and such to get up here. Some scratching the side of the car. 1.5 miles off the highway. On bluff overlooking the water with lots of tall trees
Report Check-InBeautiful spot next to an artery of the crystal clear Skagit River. The entry to the site is narrow (navigate between 2 trees) but once in, there is space for three or four vehicles. We drive a sprinter and had about 4-5 inches on either side to spare when pulling in.
Report Check-InBefor the Border to the Casacade National Park. Very nice and quite place betwen trees.
