Description

An interesting piece of BLM land next to a crystal quarry. Signs near the campsite ( pull off ) say don't pick up crystals from road and watch for rattlesnakes. Most vehicles should make it just fine. Large area room to turn around 32ft motorhome no problem.

Rustic little spot near working site and highway, but if you get here later and leave early it's quiet. Small, only fits a few vans and no privacy. I stayed 1 night 6pm-7am, 1 other friendly van campers parked by me.

Crystals & cows everywhere! Small area, easy for a van or small trailer, some road noise, but not too bad. Nice spot for a night or two. Please respect the signs which indicate the parking area and where to find some crystals.

Pulled down in here, but moved to Chosa BLM campground (free) a few miles north. This spot is okay and you're unlikely to have neighbors if that's what you prefer. Room for a good sized rig or couple smaller ones. You could back in there past the mine drive. I was just going to pull off to the north of the road there. You can see highway right from here and for me ATT signal was there, but poor. I think Chosa will be better. It's not actually clear to me this is a camping spot, but it's one of those places probably nobody cares. Road is gravel, not far but kind of bumpy and steep approach on and off highway.

Great spot for the night. We were the only ones here. A few cars went by us on the dirt road but no one stopped. No issues on the dirt road getting here.

Great spot if you are looking for somewhere free split between Guadalupe NP and Carlsbad Caverns NP. About 10 minutes to Carlsbad Caverns and 25 minutes to Guadalupe. You will come down the road and it splits. To the left is the spot where it dead ends. Backed in my 32ft travel trailer with no issues. To the left of the dead end is a trail packed with crystals that lead up to an active fenced mine. You can’t go in the mine but there is a free pile next to it you can excavate. Don’t pick from the road. More info about the mine (and energy crystals) can be found at the owner’s website, if you are into that sort of thing. https://www.crystallinephoenix.com/ We didn’t see any rattlesnakes but we did hear some coyotes at dusk. If you bring any animals with you, I’d keep them leashed/restrained at all times.

Real Nice spot.. just before the texas border! There are crystals everywhere and a special spot where you’re allowed to pick them up. The road is actually paved with crystals! We are totally alone with our 24’ Winnebago..
