Latest Check-Ins

Alfa is one of the best places we’ve experienced on our trip here in Angola. The place is beautiful, relaxing and has a feeling of home because of how welcoming and nice the owners were. They had very good food drinks and service delivery. The plan was to stay one night but ended up staying for three nights for free, only catch was to eat there. We were offered the outdoor showers and toilets for our stay there.

Report Check-In

Alfa's bar is much more than a simple bar. We were here on women's day and there was plenty of activities for the community. Alfa and the stuff received us very well and we stayed for two nights.

Report Check-In

Alfredo is a great host. My flip flops were stolen at the beach and I asked him where I should go to get new ones. He asked for my shoe size and 2h later I had new ones.
Secure parking for the bike.
Great Food.

Report Check-In

I arrived late and the weather forecast said rain for the night so I didn't want to camp. Alfredo helped me to get a room at VAG (same street and quite affordable). Since the guesthouse had no private parking, Alfredo let me park my motorcycle on the Alfa Beach Bar property 😀
Also he built a shower - From now on everyone can enjoy a free shower + toilet when camping there --> unfortunately I don't know how to update the "Shower marking" in the info section above.
As all the other comments already mention: the food is really delicious

Report Check-In

As said before. A very nice restaurant/bar on the beach. It is possible to camp for free on the secure and clean beach, facing the sea, in exchange for eating at the restaurant. The place is beautiful and the owners are super nice too.

Report Check-In

Nice place - had lunch. Friendly folks. Cool place to camp.

Report Check-In

We had a very warm welcome from Alfredo. We camped close to the restaurant for free directly on the beautiful sand beach. Maybe need to deflate the tyre. Very clean restrooms, shower was only a water pipe, but good water. To use the very good restaurant is self-evident! Restaurant is well known in Lobito.
Have a good swim or enjoy the clean beach. It's a secured place. Highly recommended.

Report Check-In

came here but found it closed. It's temporary, will reopen on 12th of August 2023.

Report Check-In

Nice place for one night stop in Lobito. We could stay for free on the beach close to the restaurant. Not really quiet (Saturday) but was OK. Had access to clean toilets and tap water to fill up our tank. Staff here is REALLY friendly and some are speaking English. We had delicious burgers (3500 Kz) & pizza (6000 Kz) there

Report Check-In

Good burger and fries for 3500, octopus skewer for 6000.
Service is kinda slow but tasty food.
Children’s park in the sand.
We slept on the beach right next to the restaurant, clean restrooms. They offered the staff shower access.

Report Check-In

Great quiet night on the beach at Alfa bar. We camped on the beach by the bar for free and had dinner in the restaurant which was excellent. Clean beach walking for miles. Beautifully clean toilets.

Report Check-In

Best time ever! It was like paradise arriving here after 13 days driving from Cape Town overland. To see the sea, swim in the sea and have a wonderful beach bar to relax at was tops.
Super helpful and friendly staff who took good care of us. We camped right next to the bar for free and was able to make use of the toilets. No showers! Toilet only.
Food was really good - highly recommend it. Managed made sure we were safe in our spot.

Report Check-In

Great place to stay! Usually they ask guests to park and set up home right next to their compound. But as we arrived by motorbike we were allowed to park right inside and set up camp under the palm trees in a shady area inside the complex. Great view of the ocean and they even bought us a couple of sun loungers. We stayed mid week and it was fairly quiet. No problems with loud music whatsoever. Food exceeded our expectations and was reasonably priced. 3 course lunch (chicken soup, octopus and desert for 4,000) and the half grilled chicken at 4,300 is great too. Only the breakfast menu (toasties and sandwhiches) were very disappointing, so wouldn’t order again. Toilet very clean and build an impromptu shower for us. Wooden crate on the beach to stand on and they attached a hose to the tap. For one night it was comfortable enough. We just left because it was too hot at night with zero airflow due to the time of year we were visiting but for sure a fantastic place to stay.

Report Check-In

Lovely restaurant next to the beach. We had dinner here and staff showed us the area right next to the restaurant where we could camp overnight with our RTT. All was well until 5am(still dark) when four gun-totting policemen woke us up as well as another overlanding couple who were camping next to us. They said that this is a public beach and camping is not allowed. They confiscated our passports and wanted us to follow them to the police station to pay penalty. Two of them looked drunk and asked for money, which we refused. I quickly went over to the security guard and asked him to get the manager. Manager arrived promptly and had a good conversation with them. After about 5 mins, policeman sheepishly returned our passports and left. I guess they were just looking for some quick money but manager foiled their plan. Staying here is no issue but make sure you know where the guard sits and even better, if you know his name :)

Report Check-In

Great place. from 7 oktober till 7 november the restaurant is closed every year. even though the location was closed, we were allowed to camp for free next to the restaurant on the beach and use the toilets.
we recommend this place.

Report Check-In

Irina, the owner, is very nice and speaks english. We parked for free on the clean beach and could use the clean toilets. electricity but no shower. happy hour beer at 300 kz :-)

Report Check-In

Best place in dusty LOBITO. Very nice and scenic restaurant at Restinga beach. Clean and elegant. Irina allowed us to place our Hilux Camper beside to her restaurant on the sand of the beach and provide us with water and electricity. We were also allowed to use the very clean toilets. All for free. We take a delicious pizza at her restaurant terrace. Around 18000 kw (16 euro) Nice music also. We stayed a second time and we felt like at home again. We tried sole fish grilled, delicious. 20.000 kw. (20 euro), really reasonable for the quality of restaurant and food. Highly recommended! Needed 4x4 traction to enter the beach.

Report Check-In

A very popular restaurant right on a very nice and clean (Angolan standard) beach. The very friendly and helpful owners allowed us to park our campervan right next to their premises and use the restaurant’s toilets for free. We really enjoyed staying here for 2 days. Irina speaks English very well.

Report Check-In

As described, beautiful place run by a very hospital family. They let you camp right next to the beach bar.

Report Check-In

Super hospitable family; hosted us during the COVID-19 lockdown. Assisted with getting groceries and made sure we were OK. Clean toilets, staff shower and electricity available. Pity bar and resto were closed for lockdown but managed to get one meal and a few drinks before lockdown started. Highly recommended place in Lobito.

Report Check-In

Nice place, but bad service. Waited 15 minutes at the table before somebody to come to take an order. Ordered fish and beer, 15 minutes later they came back and said no fish. Ordered chicken as I thought this is easy. 5 minutes later a different guy came saying no fish. I said I know and already ordered chicken. 15 minutes later finally got my beer, but they said no chicken and offered some other food, but decided it is enough, drank my beer and left. The place was not even crowded.

Report Check-In

Alfredo the manager was most welcoming! We arrived in the evening and he helped us find a spot directly on the beach next to the restaurant. As long as we ate there, we could camp safely and use the toilets and shower for free. The shower is fresh but very exposed (heads up for any ladies using it!) Although you can't see them, there are mosquitos around...! Not too noisy or disruptive, the guard; Mr Kasinda was friendly and you could feel he had kept a watch out for us throughout the entire night, although he was wary of our giant dog! This place doesn't feel like you're in Angola; more of a European beach bar style. Very tidy and clean.

Report Check-In

Very friendly indeed. Obligation to eat something in the restaurant. Don't get the frites :(. If you like beach bar camping you'll be very happy here.

Report Check-In

Very vriendly and welcoming to overlanders. We could stay for free if we would eat at the restaurant. The restaurant is good with decent prices so we did. Wi-Fi worked and the shower too. Alfredo the manager is very helpful and vriendly. We have a 2x4 so he let us stay on the compound, on the side of the bar. Very clean beach and clear water. A delight to swim. Also for our dog because there are no big waves.

Report Check-In

lovely spot on the beach for 4x4. The owner Joao let us stay next to his restaurant/bar and use their toilets. no showers or other fascilities. one would need to arrive self sufficient. Noisy music in the bar and noisy neighbourhood. Overall a great spot on the beach for a night stop.

Report Check-In

It’s not anymore free (2500kz per person) but if you don’t want pay you have to go at the restaurant, where there is nice pizzas.
Shower is working but wifi not.

Report Check-In

Don’t stay here on Friday or Saturday! !!!!! Extremely loud music until 6:30. Heaviest earplugs for motorbikes don’t do anything for you here.

Report Check-In

As stated below! Quiet during the week, but a bit noisy on Sunday evening. Some kids came asking for money, but they didn’t disturb us.
Toilets are cleaned but the shower didn’t work, neither the wifi.
They made an open cinema in the sand on Wednesday, but the film was horrible.

Report Check-In

The price for camping is now 5000 kw/10 dollars

Report Check-In

Stayed there on Monday to Tuesday. Was quiet and had a good night sleep.

Met with 2 other overlanding couples so had a great evening.

Toilet was good, shower was not working, neither was the WIFI.

At the restaurant the pizzas are good, the rice with vegetables is terrible.

4x4 definitely needed because of access to the beach.

Report Check-In

We stayed here for a couple of nights at the beach for free. The place is very convenient and not crowdy or noisy. There is a shower and the toilets are clean. The restaurant is not expensive, but the food is not that great. The pizzas are okay. Wifi was not working when we were there, but the hotel Executivo one street further has a nice rooftop restaurant with good Wifi and with reasonable prices and nice surrounding view!

Report Check-In

Nice Place directly at the Beach. Camping for free, no Obligation to eat in the Restaurant. Shower worked but they lost the Knob so bring a Plier/Leatherman to open it. The Faucet next to the Shower looks locked but you can open it anyway (to refill Water). Good Toilets at Restaurant. Western Restaurant was okay. Pizza was good, they even serve it directly at your Car :) We were there Sunday to Thursday and it was quite after around 10 o'clock, no Earplugs needed. We met a lot of other Overlander there. Especially big Groups with up to 12 Cars from South Africa and Namibia (it probably was Holiday Season in South Africa). Internet was down all the Time. But you can visit the very close Hotel Executivo (nice Rooftop Terrace!) or the Restaurant Arrabida for good Wifi.

Report Check-In

Beautiful beach, lovely restaurant. Not at all private and is noisy. There are a lot of friendly stray dogs that hang around all night, so not a good spot for people with pets. Only accessible via the beach so a 4x4 is needed. The owner even rolled out a power cable for us to use!

Report Check-In

really nice bar. Hugo not around, but we'll looked after. didn't stay as I've lost by tent poles. good wifi.

Report Check-In

Very friendly and helpful owner.
The place to sleep at the beach is nice and but most of the nights you will need earplugs......
Shower is direct near it and the toilets are very clean.
free wifi but slow
Hugo is Not any more the owner. The new one is same friendly.

Report Check-In

Really nice, large restaurant on the beach. Owned by Portuguese/Angolan bike enthusiast and overlander Hugo. Overlanders can camp for free on the beach here.

Report Check-In

A chill bar next to the beach run by a friendly motorcyclist called Hugo. Free camping, showers, bathroom, wi-fi, electricity. Just come and ask for him.
