Description

Namib’s Valley of the 1000 Hills is for us the most scenic campsite of Namibia. It is still not known so well as the opening was at the beginning of 2016. The view (see picture) is breathtaking. There are only 3 campsites. Each has its own ablution with hot solar shower, toilet, sink and fireplace. Only campsite 1 has some shade. Campers are welcome at the lodge who serves drinks, breakfast and dinner (which we enjoyed). This campsite can be reached with a Unimog or smaller type vehicle.
280NAD pp for the camsite. (April 2023)

Basic campsite and in the wind very unpleasant. Very expensive compared to other fantastic campsites we have stayed in. Not worth the money. Views are spectacular however there are also great views at better places near by. Bushman’s camp, about 30km away if far better. Owner was not very welcoming. If you have a big truck, we are about 7m, pay very close attention, the road and the turning areas are very tight. Would not recommend this place.

Nice campsite with beautiful view. Each campsite has private bathroom (toilet, hot shower) and sink. Camping is 280 pppn. It is possible to have good dinner at the lodge for 390 pp, but you have to tell them well in advance. So it is best to call in advance if you need dinner. There are also bungalows available. Again, the reason to come here is the view. I stayed for two days and hiked around in the area.
WiFi and possibility to charge things at the lodge, 4G signal (MTC) at campsites

Am here second time. Staying 2-3 nights. As described before! Nice view to Gamsberg and the valley. Lekker diner, am happy here

Report Check-In

Absolutely beautiful, incredible views and sunrises. A bit pricey though compared to other campsites nearby with much better ablutions. R570 per night for 2 people. They have firewood, beer and a lodge that you can eat in.

Report Check-In

Crazy view, owner is very kind. The valley is on the east side so at sunset the 1000 hills are orange. In the morning you will admire a wonderful sunrise. Cherry on the cake, the view on the valley when you open the door of the bathroom after shower.

Report Check-In

The view is, as several times mentioned, really great.

On the comments about BigRig. We are 8 m long and need for a U-turn 17 m, it was no problem. The way up to the lodge is a bit narrow. If you have doubts stop at the point where it goes left to the lodge and right to the bungalow and walk to last 200 meter to the lodge.

Really worth to come here, because of the view!

Restaurant and pool you either have the walk several hundred meters uphill, or you drive by car.

Great scenery, paid NAD 500 pn for two persons on the campsite. Camps are pretty close to each other. Bathroom and dish area was run down. Toilet didn’t flush on our site. Little shade. Mosquitos during the night.
Perfect for the views though!

3 sites. We were the last to come so site 2 was ours. Stunning view. We payed 200 N$ p.p. Very friendly host. We came in at 18:45 so we were happy that there was place for us. on C14 was a sign that says 7 km. to the campsite, but when your at the entrance you have another long way to go. last bit of the road was heavy. Didn't need the 4x4.

Report Check-In

Stayed here for one night. Called ahead for reservation, we feel like someone came up here just for us, because we were all alone. Restaurant and pool were closed. We payed 500 N$ for 2 ppl.
Camping spot was amazing.
The road is indeed long and rocky, but only the last 200m between the campground and the lodge are tricky. If you are not sure, just walk the last meters.
All in all we are happy to pay for this breathtaking view.

Great campsite with one of the best views I have ever had from a camp!

Report Check-In

Spectacular scenery with a very gracious host ,only 3 sites with view of the entire valley and mountains to the east , all have private showers and toilets, fast wifi at the lodge 200pp highly recommend

Report Check-In

The view is really amazing but it's not the most charming campsite for sure. Needs a bit of love and attention in my opinion, but the private ablutions were good and clean and showers were hot. Zebras and a jackal visited at night. 200 NAD ppn. Good mobile internet with MTC and free wifi at the lodge which is far uphill.

Report Check-In

Very nice campsite with clean private ablutions. You have an overview of the whole area and stunning views from all 3 places.
200 pppn. A restaurant (to be booked in advance) with a bar is also available as well as a small pool.
We did a small (5km) hiking tour on our own and a 4x4 route is also available.
Very recommended!

Luckily it was only me camping, so I enjoyed the quietness and the view.

I liked especially the private bathroom and the small “kitchen” tent.

Nice spot to visit during a Nam Roadtrip.

as already described, 3 campsites, all with shade toilet shower braai, 125ppn, from main road 6km rough access road, not for large trucks

We saw there is no actuell remark on this place so we went to check for us Overlanders. The view is absolutely wonderful ( and these says a Heidi from the Swiss alps). The road to the lodge is not difficult to drive, each Campsite has its own toilette and shower. All clean. This place is very beautiful and we would come back any time. The price at the moment is ND 130 pp.

Report Check-In

Beautiful view, only 3 campsites 200pppn. Very long (9km) slightly difficult road to get once leaving the main road. Quiet windy and for us a bit too expensive. Far away from the restaurant and bar, while the sun is going down no more power, which wasn’t mentioned to us. Glad we stayed for a night but probably won’t go back.

what a view here! amazing! perfect place to stay between Walvis and Solitaire.only 3 campsite with your own ablution. best place around! 400$ for 2 adults and 2 children.

Report Check-In

Stunnking view, quite, lots lots of stars! An absolute recommend if you like remote places. All 3 places where with a protection against the sun. There also a thiny pool.

Report Check-In

wow, what a beautifull place! 3 campsites, and some lodges. very quiet and piecefull and lovely sunrise and sunset. food in the restaurant is fabulous!

Report Check-In

Absolutely amazing and quite and peaceful with beautiful sunrise from the campsites. 140ND pppn and 90NB for the site. We managed to not pay the 90NB though. The bar offers plenty of drinks. 25NB for a beer and around 30NB for glass of whisky. Cheapest red wine was 70NB.

Report Check-In

Without doubt one of the best views we have camped at. Only 3 campsites and reasonably close to each other. Plot 1 is smallest, plot 2 bigger and plot 3 even larger catering for 1, 2 or 3 tents. Camp is 5-10 walk below lodge position where there is bar and possibly food (although there seemed to be a reluctance to offer dinner or lunch when we were there - only campers there at the time in shoulder season. Personal toilets, washing and cooking facilities. Also a good number of bungalows too. Can be a bit windy. Road to camp and lodge only suitable for a large SUV and 4x4, bigger vehicles would struggle. Can be steep in short sections. New Manager friendly. Would return if we could

Report Check-In

Currently two out of three camping spots have some shade. Beautiful views
Price 140 pppn, 110 for the camping spot.
