Something not right?

Description

North of here, the road is (mostly) paved. South of here the road is gravel.

The paved section is in excellent condition. Be aware that there are a few short sections of gravel remaining.

The gravel section can be a rough ride for the next 80 kilometers. Conditions change, but anticipate loose, rough gravel with neverending washboard. If it's rained recently there can be some short muddy spots. High clearance or 4x4 not required. It's just going to be slow going.

The road is gravel, but it is in very good condition. No need for 4x4, any vehicle can pass. With our Pick-Up Camper, taking care of the equipment, our average speed was about 50 km/h over the entire portion. No Claro phone coverage, but a free wifi point to the gorges gateway (see ioverlander point)

Horrible stretch for cyclists. Coming from the north, it is smooth for 25km and ok until the kiosko, then endless washboard for almost 60km after that. We saw multiple graders that didn’t see to have any effect on the road at all, and the constant vehicles cover you in dust clouds all day.

heard this part of the road was really bad, but it wasn't today. there's 80km of dirt road, most of which is loose gravel. pretty wide road, very little traffic, so 60-80kmh was fine for the first 30km, just take it easy on the infrequent curves, brakes and steering are less than stellar, then it got bumpy for 20km, then it got better again for the last bit. in a car, no problem, on a motorbike the loose gravel will make you ride slowly. took an hour and a half to get back to pavement.

End of the unpaved road is: Laguna Coipo Lauquen. The road took us around 2/2.5 hours. Some parts are quite bad, but you'll be fine if you drive slowly.

Report Check-In

Here begins if you come from north going to south the unpaved road section which goes on for about the next 100 kilometers. Only some small sections are in bad conditions where you have to drive really slow (20kmh). when it is or was raining there are sand pits that could get hard to drive through for a 2WD. However when dry no Problem at all when you drive slow enough.
