Latest Check-Ins

came on a Wednesday at 3 pm and spent a peaceful night here, next morning at 8 am a guy came to collect 3$ for parking. as price of casa de cristal increased, for us this is the better option

Report Check-In

Stayed here 2 nights during the week. We don't have to pay anything.Absolutely quite and chill. Nobody bothered us. Perfect for hiking to the volcano. Would stay here again. Felt very safe.

Report Check-In

We arrived on a Sunday at 4 PM and left on Monday at 1 PM. No one asked us for money. The night was cool and quiet, it was very pleasant.

Report Check-In

At 6PM today there are 2 brand new chains with locks… Seems to be closed now after hours…

Report Check-In

Spent 1 night there before starting trail early. No one around when we arrived around 5pm. Went for the trail at 7am. Came back around 11am and someone legit asked us to pay 3$ for the parking. Gave us a receipt. He didn’t knew we spent the night, probably wouldn’t have been the same price. Flat area, easy access.

Report Check-In

We arrived on a Sunday around 3PM and they charged us 5 USD to park. The whole team who collects the parking tickets left around 6PM. But the next day after we hike the volcano we didn’t see anyone to collect tickets for parking. As for the hike, we went 7:30 AM and they told us since 20 days ago it’s mandatory to do the hike with a tour guide bc of some incidents in the past either people not respecting the environment or walking off the path around at the top of the volcano. Since it was early, the found a tour guide for us and we were able to negotiate with the tour guide to pay him 3 USD per person (it was 6 of us)

Report Check-In

After 30min of negotiations at the visitor center, we couldn't enter without a guide. We spoke with government officials, policeman and they won't let us in because apparently it is now mandatory. They told us it was because of accidents that happened it the past... We really didn't want to pay more than the entrance fee as the hike seems really easy and doable without a guide, but there were like 5-6 guys with government badges so we didn't have any choices.

Guide is 35$ (private) and 3-4$ for a group (just wait for people to come there's a lot)

Report Check-In

We stayed here 4 nights. It is a very quiet place that we recommend. Parking is free. It is also the departure to go to the Visitor Center. The weekend people stand up to force you to pay a guide. Say no and move on. They will let you in. We left our vehicle here to go hiking to the volcano without problem.
$ 6 PP without guide.
During the weekend, they will insist that you take a guide, even at the Visitor Center. If you insist and say that you are sure of yourself, they will let you go. Don't be afraid to say no. Hiking is very accessible, it is impossible to get lost! In addition, there are a lot of people.

****

Report Check-In

It’s a nice place to be first in the morning to climb the Vulcano.
Google maps is not perfect, you need to drive up around 5 Km more, anyway you will see a big sign TRAIL HEAD SANTA ANA. It’s just there.

No internet connection and any amenities, it’s a parking lot.

Report Check-In

Very quiet place. We slept one night here in the cool. The hiking trail is right next door. The spot is easy to access even with large VR.
