Description

We stayed here for one night and payed 240 pesos for two persons and our Toyota Landcruiser. You can’t pay just for a few hours, it’s always for 24 hours. There is nothing but a not very clean parking lot. No bathrooms, no water. At one end of the parking area are some rooms which are rented. Can be noisy. Next to our car was a balcony with a TV running from 7 pm to 6 am next morning, so it was impossible to sleep. The only good thing is the short and easy walking distance (without elevation) to the Zocalo of 10 minutes.

Its a parking lot without any services now.. The unfriendly parking guy wanted 300peso .. We bargained for half an hour to get the 230 peso deal of the last visitor .. if you look like a local, you only pay 80peso for the night !

Its not possible to hang around outside .. Youre parked on the gravel parking right next to the other cars without any space between..

if there would be other reasonable options, we would not have stayed ..

Very nice spot. Paid 250 pesos for 2 people for 1 night. Easy to walk to the Center. Narrow tight streets to get up, wouldn’t recommend for any larger sized rigs. Nice owners. The gates were locked when we returned around 11pm on a Saturday so we had to hop the stone wall to get back in.

Really nice owner, 230 mxpesos for 24h, bathroom's, beautiful view if you park in front of taxco, down the parking.
Really quiet night and 5min walk from the zocalo.

I'm bike touring.
I came here to see if it was possible to camp. Yes you can camp. It's the ruins of a 1930's 5* hotel.
The manager and his wife were friendly and reasonable.
Charged me 100 pesos. I could have bucket shower too and somewhere to charge my phone. They have sockets on the main tree in front of their house.I camped below in one of the arches.Nobody bothered me .Felt safe.He has a night light on down below too.You can camp in many spots. Some noise at night but normal as it's in the town.During the day I packed my bags on my bike and parked it under their house locked. It's not really for cyclist/camping but it's alright for a night or 2.Most people sleep in there cans or cars etc. Some nice views from their too.

This is such a surreal place! You will park into a living room with a fireplace of an old abandoned hotel overlooking the city!
There is grill, table and chairs also. We paid 230pesos for one night. Beware the streets leading up to here is extremely narrow, we made it with ford e350 extended van, i am sure anything wider than that would get stuck.

Descriptions are all accurate. Not for big rigs. I've included a photo of our van but I didn't measure the arch. Easy walk into the Centro, up to La Cruce de Cristo, and even down to the Bodega. Look for staircases everywhere - steep but fun and interesting. We have a GMC Savannah cargo van with 4x4, small lift. I would definitely reconsider driving in this town with anything larger.
Regarding Rancho Taxco specifically - as you come up a hill you will see a gate directly ahead - this is an entrance but not THE entrance. Go another 20-30' around the tight corner and the entrance is on the left. Do not miss it! The owner's name is Noe; he is friendly, helpful and dealt patiently with our Spanish. The toilet is simple but clean. No showers. Really safe lot. Views are awesome. A little seating area to sit and take it in. Our big dog explored the ruins of the lot off leash. Fairly quiet even on a Saturday after about 10; live music at the plaza can be heard even here - really fun. We were here on a weekend and it was very busy. The lot will fill up on a Saturday so do not plan on a late arrival. Tricky to get around but if we can do it...you can! Noe charged us one price for the first night, and then a little more for both day parking in addition to night parking. The ease and safety of this location are worth it.

we enjoyed this place sooo much! your so close to the centre of the town, but you feel like being far away. excellent spot to stay a couple of nights!!

For smaller setups this is a great spot. The owner is very nice and we were able to park back in the ruins all by ourselves. He did prefer us to be packed up and moved before 10 because sometimes in the day cars park back that far. Really neat spots that felt safe. Wonderful views of the city.

Stayed 2 nights here in the ruin area with our van, see photo. Nice quiet little spot and only a short walk into town. Not for big rigs! M140 a night. Owner very friendly.

Quiet parkingplace in town with very friendly owner who welcomes campers. He even offered us a special quiet parking place under a shady tree in the middle of the ruins with a great view to the cathedral where we could have stayed with more privacy and maybe even electric connection - unfortunately our camper is too high (3.05m) to pass under that entrance arch... 160Pesos per car (80/day&80/night). There is also a toilet on site. As mentioned before: this town has really narrow streets, so better don't come in with big rigs. But it's a wonderful place to visit especially on weekends when it's packed with mexican tourists!
