Description

Eye-wateringly expensive campground. One of 3 private campsites along this road. All others in the Big Sur strip currently closed due to fire, except Plaskett Creek and Limekiln State Park, both of which fill up and require bookings.
Riverside costs $65 for an unpowered site, this one, Big Sur, costs $63 or $73 for unpowered sites, and Fernwood was full when we passed but probably similar. Complimentary coffee and hot showers at Big Sur though - what a deal!

Latest Check-Ins

Well, this campground is too expensive
payed $200 for 1 day.
But at least we had a place to stay for the night plus coffee mugs and coffee for free.
No cellular

We stayed here for 4-5 days. Oddly the price goes up the longer you stay! It is beautiful, the redwoods are amazing! Our 20 rv had hook ups for electric and water but no dump site at our site ( but at a general dump site). Most staff seem to try hard and are helpful, but we were harassed by a night staff who asked us to turn off our generator several times ( we don’t have one ). We told her this, but she persisted. We paid a big 180 a night here. All you can use ice , coffee in the am , and first night fire wood and mugs given . ( as we decided to stay past first 2 nights we negotiated the 25$ surcharge off for additional nights for mugs, wood etc) . Absolutely no wifi . Some big issues with people not watching their own kids and them hanging around us ( 2 fifty years olds , wtf ??? ) but lucky we aren’t a threat …and unattended crying dogs … made me sad/mad …ask for Pfeiffer beach directions… amazing!! Otherwise bring your groceries and supplies and relax !

State Campground. River sites $50, others $35. Sign said full, but asked and there were plenty of sites available on this Monday night! Yeah!!! Quiet, beautiful, wonderful!

$140.00 for 1 night for a van. we did get 2 free coffee mugs 2 free flashlights a free bag of ice and free bundle of wood. definitely paid for all that in the price to park for 12 hrs. absolutely no cell service

Let’s start with the very narrow and curvy highway 1. Our bus is 37’ and we had no idea that it would be a tight squeeze the whole way up. We barely made a few tight turns without scrapping the sides and we had a huge line behind us...

This campground is SKOOLIE FRIENDLY, however I don’t see a bigger bus than ours fitting

At a WHOPPING $120 a night. Louder for the people in the back, $120 a night!!! For no hookups, absolutely ZERO cell phone signal and no WiFi. This place was expensive. The most we ever paid for a place to park.

First night we got a pull through, it was a huge space but the next day we needed to live as the pull thru wasn’t available and reserved (we didn’t have reservations) the second spot was a back in and smaller but SAME PRICE.

Theres a big playground, the kids loved it, clean bathrooms and shower stalls, small laundry facility and access to the Big Sur River.

With no one else having availability we had to stay here, and thought it was soul crushing expensive, it was gorgeous and amazing and so much fun. We hiked down to the river and took a dip, the eater was freezing but we walked away with some amazing memories.

Staff was nice and friendly, clean campground. There’s a pricey snack shop store and you can rent inner tubes to float with on the River.

Nearest grocery store was 26 miles up north to Carmel, or back down 66 miles... it’s a long stretch
There are a few small gas stations in the small Big Sur stretch but it would have been difficult to get the bus to fit in and out.

We gave 4.5 only because of the price.
