Description

Nice camping with beautiful ocean view.
The campsite is situated in the coastal forest on the slope of the empty beach. Some of the pitches are a bit secluded but most are not. All of them are shaded by nice trees. The surface is sand, for the upper spots you might need a 4x4. No direct sea view, but the beach is really just across the road. Clean ablution, power and water at site. Free WiFi at the bar. Price 100 Rand per person. Driving from Xai-xai, access road is 2,5 km of natural sand track. Depending on conditions, a 4x4 might be needed.

Report Check-In

Still a way to recovery, closed sign at the gate, had to wake up security, they managed to connect electricity. Only guests. No WiFi, no bar or restaurant. Half the showers and bathroom stalls nailed shut. Gave it a creepy feeling arriving in the evening, but worked out ok for a night. Not much ocean view, and a walk to a mediocre beach. Asked for 1000 M for a small vehicle of 2, seemed overpriced for what you get now.

Report Check-In

Camping has reopened again after covid. Still renovating the campsite and currently running on donations. Lovely shaded terrassed campsite and if you're lucky one with a view of the sea. We we're lucky as we were the only ones at the campsite. Friendly welcome by the owner.

Report Check-In

They are "OPEN"! After being crushed by COVID they are slowly bringing the place back to life. The sign says closed as they are still working on the place, but if you stop at the gate & walk in somone will very happily let you stay. Camping spots are good, chalets are not ready yet. Wifi is fast, water is hot & power is at some sites. Restaurant is still closed as they are living & working out of it while they rebuild. Nice people, nice place to camp:)

Report Check-In

Appeared closed when we arrived as nobody around to help but the site still looked well maintained so hopefully only a temporary situation

Report Check-In

camped 3 nights, only ones at the campsite, I guess because of the little travellers in these corona times. We have a prado and camping trailer and managed to camp at one of the upper '4x4' spots, take the road from the south easy sand track, not via the north.

Report Check-In

Great campsite. Flat terrain. Electricity at the sites. We have a big rig (Iveco daily 4x4) and their was a spot where we could fit. Cold water at the ablutions at the moment- but it is so hot that it does not matter. Great restaurant with great view of the ocean. Walking distance from the beach. Only 100m

Report Check-In

Nice camping very neat on the beach friendly people will come back

Report Check-In

Campsites under trees with see view far. Not light on all spots. Cold shower. Friendly Staff. Nice view from the bar/restaurant. Beach at 100 m. Very quiet and beautifully beach. 500 MT ppn and car 500 MT. We negocied for 1000 MT for 2 pers and car. Good Wifi on the bar for free.
Maybe a little overpriced.

Report Check-In

We thought this campsite was overpriced for what it offered. 500Mets for the site and 500Mets per person off-peak. Ablutions are very average. Lots of dog poo on our site.

Report Check-In

We arrived from the beach road from north/ chongene side which was very scenic but partly deep sand. Stayed for one night and enjoyed the beach around and the restaurant.
Campsite itself is very shady under large trees and it seemed a bit too packed in a small spot. Facilities were OK maintained but would have expected more for the price.

Report Check-In

As described previously. We arrived in the dark and as only overnight, did not camp. R250pppn for chalet. Warm welcome from staff. Chalet has hot shower and toilet. Also a kettle. Very basic and smelt mouldy. Its okay if you need a quick overnight. I would not like to return here. Its kept relatively clean but needs maintenance and repair. Restaurant closes at 7, we did not try the food and were recommended to Chongoene next door but i will not recommend that either. Enclosed photo of campsite and chalet.

Report Check-In

Great spot, saw whales and dolphins from the deck and bought fresh fish from the local touts just in the road at the camp. Good spot, can’t swim right there however as sea and reef makes it rough...

Report Check-In

Everything is reported. Very tranquil place. We were there out of highseason as the only guests. Toffee a big Ridgeback was our best friend and guard.

Report Check-In

Artsy place. Sandy but camp is sheltered from wind. Nice ocean view from restaurant veranda. Food good. Owner very friendly. WiFi at restaurant area only, but nice and fast. Beach deserted at this time of year (the way we like it.) looks like price increase? Asked 500METpppn plus 500 for the campsite! Negotiated down. Used the pensioner “card”.

Report Check-In

We are cyclists and wanted to spend some days off the road. Fully loaded it was a bit of a struggle, even as we were tired. Sand Road for 4 KS but it was totally worth it. The place has a big space to hang out, a very spacious terrace and the family who's running the place is extremely nice and helpful. We felt comfortable, relaxed and after a very good breakfast we had to continue. Just worth to try!

Report Check-In

Good for one night stopover. We thought this place is a little bit rundown.
The water from the taps in the ablutions can give black water.
There are 3 big friendly dogs, using the area as toilet. So watch out for dog poop.
500 MTZ pppn

Report Check-In

Quite nice place. Pretty sandy, good braai stands, quiet location apart from the ocean :) as others have said trees are very low, difficult with roof top tent. Ablutions ok...hot water. Nice bar with deck and sea view. 500 Meticals pppn. Maybe a little over priced.

Report Check-In

Ok place, tricky for big vehicles, lots of low branches, very busy at moment (Dec 28 2016) and so we squeezed into parking area, nice bar and terrace with great views of the ocean. 100 per person.

Report Check-In

Nice place with camping 20 meter from the beach. Friendly staff.
If your big rig doesn't fit the trees will be cut for you if you ask nicely.....
A new borehole is made and water is potable drinking water (nice taste)
