Dispersed Camping along this Road. The road is in very good condition - gravel road. Easily doable with 2WD. Beautiful stop, safe and convenient! We stayed at this location. There are other spots anf more info on the other post closer to the Highway.

As stated in other comments this is a quick drive off I40. We had no problem getting in with our truck. There are 3 low water crossing so check for rain.
Report Check-InTried reaching this place with my compact cargo 2 wheel drive, when the ground is wet don’t even attempt it. There was a huge mud pit at the turn before the site, I was able to turn around but I did NOT think I was making it out of there. I was hoping the whole road was gravel- not the case.
Report Check-Inarrived midday may 2nd made it here in a 2 wheel cargo van with no special tires
but all is dry and I drive very slow.
No traffic until late afternoon 1 SUV, and
a group of ATV-ers. Strong Verizon signal. I think it was between 15-30 minutes to slowly drive 6 mile canyon road from the highway back to here depending on your speed of course.
