Latest Check-Ins

Update: we were told not to get anything done here. Only for those going to the next town on Bolivian side. There was no issues when we got to Aduana (see additional border control pin).

As soon as you cross the bridge you will be stopped. We had to take ALL of our bags off our bikes and put them through the scanner. We were asked about how much money we had on us, to show inside our tank bags etc. No issues with drone or anything else. Really friendly guys and interested in the bikes. It's a hassle in the humid, hot weather but not actually a problem.

You then continue under a km to the Aduana and Migracion - see next pin also. All in one building, one after the other so easy.

Report Check-In

For departing Bolivia with a vehicle, visit the green office on the Bolivia side (before crossing the bridge to Argentina). A police officer will exit stamp the copy of your Bolivian TIP, that was already stamped by police upon entry into the country as well (at least mine had been).
*You will need both this double stamped TIP copy as well as the original Bolivian TIP at the next office across the bridge, where you also get your passport stamped out of Bolivia.*
**You will also need proof of vehicle insurance for Argentina at next office, so get it ahead of time.**
Afterwards, drive over the bridge to Argentina - where you will be asked for passport, Bolivian TIP and vehicle title. Then your luggage will be xrayed/vehicle checked (they did not look over our motos, but we saw autos thoroughly checked). On motorcycles, we were asked to xray one bag each. Then, you drive a short distance where it is 20 Bolivians per auto to be sprayed (on motos we were allowed to drive through without paying or getting sprayed and are unsure why/if it was a mistake or not). Afterwards you drive further until you get to more offices to do the rest - see other iOverlander entry for that info.

It tool me over 2 hours to get through... As i bought the car in Colombia with chilean plates from other viajeros I had many questions asked and the van had to gontrough the scanner! It was quite amusing to see the effort taken by the aduaneros wishing to catch a big fish! No luck...
They didn't asked for insurance by the way...
All that on a heay rainy day!

Report Check-In

they checked everything. papers, documents and all goes to the scanner. also disarm the car, check the fuel tank. my friend was upset because we were the only car that they checked in all that time. we were there 2 hours and a half. even they bring a dog to smell.

Report Check-In

we don't need the copy of our TIP at the border from Bolivia to Argentina; very easy crossing at afternoon; at the first building the bolivian aduana looks into the Camper; then we had to pay 10 BOB for desinfection of the wheels; ca. 2km ahead at the common Bo/Ar building we get the passport stamps at counter #1 for leaving Bol and give them the bol. TIP, #2 stamps the passport into Arg, #3 makes the TIP for the camper into Arg; that's all paperwork; while drive through show the little stamped entry document for the car and go ahead, we had no control by arg. aduana;

From Bolivia to Argentina: you need a copy of the TIP from Bolivia with all your stamps first. (copyshop in the town nearby). Then you need an insurance for Argentina before you can cross the border with your car. Don't arrive late: we were there at 6:30pm and they searched everything in our car for at least an hour. They even looked at the engine and underneath the car, put our fridge through a scanner and let a dog sniff around our stuff. Was fun to watch
