Chilled hostel with tent space van space and dorms. 10 minute walk into town.San Juan is the best pueblo on the lake, clean, friendly and some great art.

Great spot by lake atitlan. It’s a perfect base to then visit the nesrby towns by tuk tuk or lancha (both cheap!!). We have a large truck camper and really worried about finding a place to stay but this was perfect.
Not perfectly levelled but we made it work.
Basic showers, toilets and kitchen but still awesome to have access to those for a reasonable price 60Q per night. Dog friendly too. Dogs on property are super chill.
Warning: the road down from the highway is crazy!!! So steep and tight turns, you need good brakes and probably good transmission and motor to get back up. Quite stressful to be honest but still glad we came to visit San Juan.

You park on the grass area in front of the house, not quite straight, but with our wedges it went, space for 2 to 3 vans, you can have electricity, there is a shower, toilets, a kitchen, lucia and marcos are always super friendly and helpful, we were even twice There for 6 and 9 nights, language school and village in 10 minutes walk, paid 50q per night, absolutely recommended, but not for big rigs,

Communicated by WhatsApp in advance. Very little space for camping. The camping spots are not level. Close to a busy road. There is also some construction nearby. So it's not so tranquil. Generally quiet during the night.

Price paid was Q50 for two persons in a vehicle.

Good facilities, everything is basic but functional.

Marco was super friendly. We could also do some laundry on-site. The washing machine needs to be taken outside. Q12/kg of clothes. Drying outside in the sun.

The internet was not fast/stable enough but our Starlink worked great as there are no trees around the parking area.

Not a good place to fill your water tank as the water is dirty.

Quite a few mosquitoes, probably from the small ponds nearby or the lake. Got bitten a lot.

Good for exploring all the nearby towns. Walking distance to nearby San Juan. Tuk-tuk to San Pedro should cost you Q10 pp (some ask Q20-25 pp but you can negotiate or just take the next one). San Pedro is also the most touristy. Getting a to San Marco is more expensive (Q25-30pp) and you can skip it if you have limited time.

Dog friendly place. Rustic but welcoming. There is place for max 2 or 3 vans or medium rigs. We stayed here 2 weeks and walked every morning the path by the lake to go at our spanish lessons in the village. Also, the Mirador is 5 minutes walk from here. Don’t forget to go see the vue there. Water, electricity, temazcal, bad internet, hammock, kitchen, toilets, warm and cold shower. Marcos is very nice and welcoming.

It has been a blast to overnight here for 2 nights. San Juan is an incredible town you shouldn’t miss to visit and Marcos is THE host. He is such a welcoming, caring and kind guy. I really appreciated to made it to this place. Highly recommended.

The town of San Marcos is overwhelming. Go and explore it !

We stayed here 2 days and visit San Pedro and San Juan with a tuk tuk.
Marcos was very nice and welcoming since we arrived at dark unannounced.
We were supposed to go somewhere else but had to turn back because the street was to narrow. Everybody was out looking at us! A nightmare!
Thanks to our saviour, Marcos!
This place is rustic but nice and quiet at night.
50q per night. It is an ONG.

Spent a couple of nights here: 2 people + 1 dog in a Ford Transit van.

Awesome vibes at this place. Marcos is super kind and you can tell this place is only going to keep improving.

We thought it was great for the price. We paid Q50 per night. I would recommend messaging Marcos ahead of time to make sure there is space to park. There is only enough space for 2-3 vehicles. Anything longer than a Ford Transit/Sprinter type van will probably not fit.

We loved:
-shower with great pressure
-flush and compost toilets with toilet paper
-drinking water!
-common area had a long table to work from
-full kitchen
-good spot to launch a paddle board (just have to wade through a bit of mud first)

There are loads of organic foods being grown, and we hope some day soon Marcos can offer whatever is in season for purchase 👍🏼 I saw loads of kale that I wanted to eat!

Marcos also does hiking tours, but we didn’t do any.

If you want to explore San Juan and San Pedro, I recommend stopping here and walking or taking a tuktuk into San Pedro. I drove all throughout San Pedro and one wrong turn puts you down the tightest roads I’ve ever driven. Plus you have to pay a Q5-10 town tax for each town, so you may as well leave your car and take a tuktuk.

San Juan has an amazing energy to it. Really friendly people all around the city. I felt like a local for the 2 days I was there.

Note: the parking area isn’t totally flat, but we leveled out easy enough with two maxtrax boards and angling at a 45 degree angle towards the hostel.
