The main road was rutted but not washboarded. In wet conditions it would be messy and challenging. Our 3500 Sprinter did fine as did other passenger vehicles. However, many of the offshoot roads to the campsites were even more rutted and muddy. Low clearance vehicles might have some difficulty. We were here on a Tuesday in mid-May and it was super quiet and not crowded. We had a large spot right on the water with a fire ring/grill. The vault toilets were closer to the established camping areas at Lava Cove and Lava Point. It got very buggy in the morning and evenings. I didn’t get any bites so don’t think they were mosquitoes.
Had between 1 and 2 bars of Verizon and ATT.
No water. No trash so pack it out. This place was very clean. Let’s keep it that way!
