Very cute town. There is a dirt road from the boat launch to a shady lot by the river. Sign says 2 night camping limit. Just register at the sign. It is free. A few numbered designated sites and tent sites on the grass. Grills and picnic tables. A kind, police officer may stop to tell you he will be cruising by to check on you throughout the night. Public bathroom across from brewery. Buy a beer at the brewery to help them out.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Car camped here in the parking lot by the sign. Says no wheeled campers but I think they mean on the grass by the established campsites. Here on a Tuesday and no one else was here. Good Mexican food within walking distance!
Report Check-InAs described with the camping area at the end of the road left from where the boat ramp goes down. Couldn’t find a sign in book but saw the tent camping areas. Rules said “no wheeled camping”, but we went back to the parking area that allows 24 hour parking by the sewer treatment area and the railroad tracks and slept in our Jeep. No one bothered us other than the heat, bugs, and very loud trains every few hours. Public restrooms were nice. Be respectful and free spots like this in cute little towns will stay available!
Still a great spot as of June 2023. I didn't realize it's below the levee sidewalk, so you use a side road to get to the wood post with the camping/parking rules. Missouri River looked beautiful.
