Description

When driving past the laguna you go through a military checkpoint. They looked through our car, searching for drugs or arms, they said it's a common smuggling route. They also said that it's not allowed to drive with jerry cans here, because the border is so near, even though we told them that we are not going to Chile. After some talking and us wanting to go back and find another route, because we needed the gasoline for the planned route, they let us through. Maybe an additional problem was that we have a Chilean plate, but they didn't mention that. So if you do have jerry cans, I would suggest you go around the laguna to avoid the military control (I hope there is none).

Update - easy, quick check of passports, no looking in car, no mention of our visible Jerry's.

Latest Check-Ins

Although there are many roads here in the navigation maps, you can’t avoid the military checkpoint when you are nearby.

Tip: we passed with an tour guide vehicle. So we did not have to stop here. We just drove behind them. Easy get through and maybe also a tip for you.
We have 3 very big Jerry cans on the roof, that are clearly visible. Had no problem.

Report Check-In

Quick and easy. Just took photos of paper copies of our passports. No mention of the 2 visible Jerry cans on our roof.
