Huge public area by the lake. This coordinate is the gate entry, just open and follow the tracks. You can choose different spots by the lake. There is a little bit of plastic bags and other trash around, but you can find a nice and flat place. We slept two nights, no shadow, but fresh at night. Safe and public.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Easily accessible with our 23ft european RV. Just open the gate (for the cows) once you get there and then park wherever you want. The place has an amazing view and a football pitch BUT the entire place is full of trash. Like really really much. We left when we found a SERYNGE right in front of our doorstep.
Report Check-Inaccessible again, just follow the street down to the lake, ignore that there is a piece of street missing in Google maps. while this is a really nice campground (flat, free, grass, lakeview and nice temperature at night) this is probably the place with the biggest amount of trash I have seen in Central America, such a shame... didnt even consider to swim in the lake. thousands of flies around between 6 and 9 pm, better to close your doors during that time or at least switch the lights off. Felt safe there.
Report Check-InThe spot was not reachable, because a huge tree trunk lay in front of the gate. Found a place here: 13.94482 -89.01482 next to a small path. 2wd ok.
Report Check-InWe spent one night here. Very nice view on the lake. A lot of trash….everywhere. That’s so sad to see animals in the middle of that. We slept with pigs and cows.
Report Check-InSwung by this area. It go thru the gate but there was lot of trash and saw quite a bit of mosquitoes during the rainy season, so we headed to the Mirador.
Boy oh boy, human being sure can trash this planet.
We stayed here one night and it was lovely once I spent about 30 minutes collected a large bag of garbage. It’s such a beautiful spot but there is a depressing amount of garbage in the cow pasture and right up to the edge of the water. It’s mostly old shoes, plastic bottles and straws, it’s very weird. If the overlanding community picks up just one or two bags of garbage each it will be cleaner for the locals and future travellers.
We enjoyed watching the 4 large pigs roaming free amongst the cows! There’s no shade whatsoever but we have an awning and it does cool down nicely at night. For night number two we stayed at Centro Arte para La Paz which is open again now that the construction is finished. It’s right in town so we could explore and eat pupusas!
