Memorial Day weekend and all park campgrounds are fully booked. We took this road and found several decent spots for camping. Quite clean nice with a path to the lake below.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Long gravel road to get in, don’t need 4x4 but it’s rocky. There are several campsites along this road (12+ about). We arrived late, there were a lot of sites open - only a few other campers. There is a path at this site that leads down to the water but we saw a pretty decently large snake on the path so we never walked down to check out the lake. At night, our dog kept alerting us for little critters on the site (maybe raccoons or porcupines? Not 100% sure). We were able to get our 4Runner on a level spot but we used a couple rocks to make it completely level. The site is on a hill. It was clean, minimal trash left behind from others. 2 fire pits.
