stayed one night. very nice, next to the river. clean drop toilets. fire rings and picnic tables. plenty of space in a big gravel lot for larger rigs as well.

About 4 free campsites in this recreation area. Nice access to the river, but the campsites don’t have a great view of it. Very clean pit toilets. Lower Beaver Campground down the road definitely has better views of the San Miguel River.

Report Check-In

Great camp site, with a great view. Plenty of spots/space for parking. Camped for close access to Telluride (30 mins). Be mindful not to get snowed in.

We and our friends sleep here for 4 nights! Amazing place, nice view, have barbecue, and the river is very cold but delicious!!

We travel in a 40’ Super C so we need places that have relatively easy access. This place was perfect for accessibility and we loved it was right along the San Miguel River. It’s very small, only a few designated spots that would work for smaller rigs, car or tent camping. Parking lot area where we camped was very flat so easy leveling. There’s a vault toilet, though I never used it so not sure how clean it was, but guessing it’s well-maintained. There’s a large turnaround at the end of the parking lot where large rigs like ours can park and turn around. During the day, there are fly fishers that frequent the river but aside from that, it’s a pretty peaceful and chill location. Nighttime is amazing and we caught a meteor shower one of the nights we were there. It’s super dark so very easy for star gazing.

This is an excellent spot to camp for day trips to any number of places in the area. Telluride, Million Dollar Highway, etc. AT&T signal was OK, decent enough to stream videos. We had no Verizon signal in the area.

We have the prime spot of the three, tucked in the trees right by the river! Besides the other two established sites there's a large gravel lot that will accommodate several more rigs. Just keep in mind there's also day use so cars will be parking here also to access the San Miguel River. Very light road noise, we barely noticed it. If you need cell service, we were able to work and stream with TMobile, and our booster. I believe the stay limit is 7 days, and we took advantage.

Report Check-In

Perfect! Easy access. Clean pit toilet. Right by the river. Quiet. T-Mobile has one bar but works well. A little buggy at night. Approx 30 min to telluride.

Nice place and as other have described it

Report Check-In

Great spot for a night or two. As others have said quiet after 8pm

Report Check-In

Great location, nice and clean, easy access from the highway. We parked right next to the river. no road noise even though it's right next to the hwy. and best of all, it's free! Not sure why I can't give it a rating, but it deserves at least 4 stars.

Report Check-In

Beautiful site, 5 campers total. Close to the road, but traffic was minimal around 8pm. The river sound almost covered the road noise.

Report Check-In

Nice campground, 3 slots for camping with shade. lots of room in the parking lot though. It's now only 7 days of free camping before you have to move on.
Right on the river.

Report Check-In

nice even in the snow and cold! A little road noise but not bad. 8 degrees in the morning. bathrooms were clean and spot was very pretty. Great 4G signal on T-Mobile

Report Check-In

As described. Plenty of parking for any size rig. First night two of us there, second night 7. Toilets were clean. Grass needed a haircut. River is right there, many raft companies use it to put in.

Report Check-In

Adding photos. If you are not in a hurry, this would be a perfect place to experience backcountry Colorado

Report Check-In

Very nice place to camp right beside the river shaded spots with pit toilets. 14 day limit.

Report Check-In

seems okay for a night, next to the main road but traffic doesn't seem to bad. FREE 14 day w/ pot toilet.
