Description

October 2020 restaurant and shop closed due to covid
Great stop in SA as we have always wanted to come here. Hot water. Great views, pool. You also need to pay park entry per day. R40 pppd for South Africans/ 192 Int. travelers. Shop at reception sells wood, meat and most basics, but no vegetables or fruit. You can drive your vehicle to the cabins or campsite. Watch for baboons. They have a small fuel station on site. WiFi is R20 per hour. Camping is R250/p. site

Latest Check-Ins

The campsite is good with good ablutions and a place for laundry! The walkway towards the falls is very good with 5 lookout points. The prices fair. Baboons a bit of a problem but keep your camper closed at all times.

Report Check-In

Shop and restaurant are open again. We paid no entrance to the park.. Wildcard and R300 for 1 night for 2 people. All clean and tidy. Sand only spots with some having good shade.

Report Check-In

This park and campsite are now open again. Facilities as described by others. We paid R303 per night for a site with shade and 220v connection, but you may not camp on the grassy sections which are fenced off to vehicles. Ablutions etc a bit old in appearance but clean and functional. Vervet monkeys and baboons were around but not troublesome. Restaurant is good and has wifi. Gravel road drives in park are spoilt (as usual in SANP places) by lack of grading and heavy corrugations in places in spite of 40 kmh limit which parks personnel ignore. Game is thinly scattered in this arid park. Both swimming pools at site needing some TLC.

Report Check-In

Nice, well kept camping site, with trees for shade, BRAII area, abolutions, kitchen, laundry. R285 for 2 per night. Electricity. Nice ebony walk by office to falls and a 2 km walk along the gorge to twin valley. BEWARE OF MONKEYS AND BABOONS

Report Check-In

This was a nice campground, close to game drives and the waterfall, which is lit up at night. Baboons were keeping a close eye on our food. Ablutions were fine.

Report Check-In

We enjoyed the camping here. Clean, hot shower, washing mashine, kitchen, shady spots available, hiking trails starting at the campground, 265 for 2 people for caming which is in our opinion ok. In other countries in Africa you pay more and have less service.

Report Check-In

OK for big rigs . If you plan to do the driving loops be aware that after Hollenbacht waterhole to cross the Blouputs road you are limited to 3 m hight. Wi-Fi 20R for 1hours just in the restaurant. Restaurant is very good. The George trail is must.

Report Check-In

The price is now ZAR 265. The ablutions are okay. No problem for normal big trucks.
Unfortunately the river has most time of the year only few water... so the waterfall might be not so impressive. For a nice view one might do the 2 km long "gorge trail".
Beware of the monkies. They observe especially the new arrivals!!

Report Check-In

Just to add to all the earlier comments. When we where there everything was clean and functioning. We really liked the natural atmosphere of the place and that it is very close to the falls. It was very hot and we started very early for a hike, which is not possible if you stay outside the park. You can even go and see the falls at night. But watch out for the monkeys while you prepare and eat your food!

Report Check-In

We did not stay here, partly because of some of the negative comments on here, but mainly because of the price. We did look at the campsite in passing though, as day visitors to the Park. I must say everything looked very well maintained, clean and tidy. All our contact with staff (security, reception and restaurant) was positive - everyone we dealt with was lovely and helpful and friendly.
The price still seems rather expensive though at R250 to camp + R192 Park entrance fee per person per day.

Report Check-In

Falls are nice. Campground is too small for big rings so we didnt stay. Lazy staff at the reception.

Report Check-In

Good camping area in nice surroundings. All sites have power and braai. Few water taps spread out over the campsite. Separate scullery/ laundry area. Everything is very basic but have to admit the smaller ablution block is not taken care of very well. Showers don’t work probably, toilets are not very clean and out of toilet paper most of the time. Also recycling station bins overloaded!! Not what we are used from SAN parks.

Report Check-In

Paying 192R entrance fee per person when you don’t have a wild card and finding rubbish everywhere in day Area it’s for my point of view rude and discussing.
We were there on Sunday and we were not able to swim because of drunk people in swimming pool with bottle of beer even with rangers visiting
Not really nice to come here on weekends

Report Check-In

Stunning views to the falls and nice Dassie Trail but the rest camp wasn't good. Very sandy campsite and the staff didn't drive slowly so we had a sandy breakfast :( , ablutions wasn't clean and the baboons destroyed our tent. There wasn't food in the tent only the bed! Be careful!! Some of the staff in restaurant was very friendly but most of them were lazy and not interested in doing their job. Sorry, we didn't enjoy the camp at this date. Sometimes it may be better.

Report Check-In

Nice camping sites. All on sand, but was not a problem.
Quiet a bit of shade.
Ablutions Ok, but getting a bit old.
Nice hot water.

Report Check-In

Nice place, clean ablutions, pools etc. Lots of monkeys! They changed the rules: now you per per site ( 235R) with max. 2 people, additional persons pay 82R or 41R (children 2-11) - to expensive for families with more children! All San-Parks consider children with 12 years as adults that s not fair!!!
In Addition, you have to pay park entrance if you are not a wild card member. (176ppd)

Report Check-In

Very large Campground. Clean and very well maintained.
The trails up to 92 km are worth to see. Restaurant has very good wines from the region & a good kitchen.
But all is topped by the views to the white water of the Oranje.

Report Check-In

good campsite in the park. toilets and showers are clean. 100ppn to camp, we didn't need a reservation

Great stop in SA as we have always wanted to come here. Camping was unfortunately fully booked so we got a cabin for R1170 for the night. Staff are friendly, facilities are clean and well kept. Each place has a braai, fridge and cooking. Hot water. Great views, pool. You also need to pay park entry per day. R40 pppd for South Africans. Shop at reception sells wood, meat and most basics, but no vegetables or fruit. You can drive your vehicle to the cabins or campsite. Watch for baboons. The have a small fuel station on site.
