Dirt road leading out to the flats a few miles from Amboy junction. Park anywhere off the road.. we came in about a mile .. Can hear train but no road traffic sound. Very level. Would not recommend if there was rain. Hard mud but no sand.

never found this place. also, if coming from the west on route 66, there is a bridge with a weight limit of 3 tons. hoping to save some 1 hour drive like we did.
