Not a knock, but someone came by at like 3am and woke me up kind of loud talking/yelling at me and the other van parked here. Whoever it was drove away by the time I got out of bed and up to the front of my rig. Not yelling like angry, but kind of shouting about my Alaska plates and I couldn’t quite make out what they said at the other van. No harm done, but made me feel weird as a woman traveling alone that someone was creeping close enough to read my plates at 3am. But a gorgeous view to wake up to!

Report Check-In

Nice spot right on the cliff at the ocean. Sleep with the sound of the ocean waves. Beautiful sunset.

Day time many people stop here for a look.

Two persons still living on corner with a camper van and a broken down Jeep. (Which according to the posts further below is with permission).

Report Check-In

This place was absolutely stunning and we got to see an incredible sunset. I feel so lucky to have stayed here.
A sheriff’s car drove passed at about 9pm and didn’t even slow down.
The permanent resident parks at the south end of the carpark and seems to keep to themselves. The rest of the area was very tidy - no trash about at all so please keep it this way so people can continue to enjoy this stop.

Report Check-In

Permanent resident is an eye sore to this otherwise beautiful spot. Unless highway patrol or local taxpayers have given this the OK (which is doubtful) the likely solution to such problems is usually to close it for everyone rather than just kick an individual out. Please fellow full timers do not setup permanent residency anywhere. That is going to be what gets beautiful places like this shut down and ruined for everyone!

Report Check-In

Great spot! Quiet and beautiful with enough room for a few vans

Report Check-In

Devonte lookout.

quiet, peaceful, the permanent resident couple is still there, they keep to themselves. light traffic during the day, completely quiet at night. stayed 2 nights from Friday to Sunday.

people sight seeing do show up on weekends, maybe 5 cars total and then take off. Tmobile decent data the closer to the north west corner of the pullout you get.

we took the tundra up there along with a diesel heater it was nice and comfy.

Report Check-In

large pull out just south of the bridge over Juan Creek. one permanent resident who actually keeps the place clean and neat. boondocking is allowed beautiful views very safe feeling spent two nights here didn't want to leave

Report Check-In

Is as described: beautiful view, permanent resident and ocean noise.

Report Check-In

Great spot with a beautiful view! I recommend getting here a little earlier to wach the sunset. Very few cars drove by, even in the morning. There was only one long-term RV with two dogs and some cool yard art and one other van. The "hoarder" in the precious comments and picture is gone.

Report Check-In

Perfect spot with the sounds of the ocean behind the cliff. As others have noted, there was a full timer and two others van lifers. We found this spot better compared to the one that’s a turnout that’s north of here. Our experience was that, there are many such pullouts or turnouts along this route without a “No Overnight” sign.

Report Check-In

This is a perfect spot! There is a cliff, so watch your pups and kids. There is a full timer here, but they are absolutely fine. We had quite a few other vans pull up (but it was a Saturday, to be expected), but the waves drown out all noise and make this such a delightful place to stay.

Report Check-In

All good !! Great spot!! Exactly how everyone describes it!! Thanks everyone !! Not really any bushes to pee in and the bluff is breathtaking but dangerous-as-fxxx no fence just a drop. Love it as much as it scares me to walk around my element right now lol!

Report Check-In

Amazing spot and got to watch an epic sunset. A big turnout with a couple rvs and one other car.

Report Check-In

This is a nice spot, not much to add to the good description. With T-Mobile I get 1-3 bars 5G with 11,58 Mbps downstream. This is my First "Check-In".

Report Check-In

Stayed here one night after taking the windy road down from the 101, beautiful spot, we got a nice sunset despite the fog. Watch your kids or dogs around the edge though, complete drop off.

Report Check-In

Parked facing the Ocean to wake up to a beautiful View. Great spit. Easy to find. Free. Only a few other ppl. Can only hear you ocean and not any cars. First time using app and checking in.

Report Check-In

Nice spot especially reading the history in the comments! No Verizon

Report Check-In

An excellent spot for the night. Large turnout with enough room for multiple rigs to park away from the road and apart from one another—my Sprinter and a trailer and a large RV all shared last night and I would never have known they were there. After dark there is almost no traffic so all you hear is the ocean crashing beneath you. I had 1-2 bars Verizon LTE, which was spotty but better than nothing.

Report Check-In

super lovely views, no bathroom, limited signal, trailer permanently parked there with a lovely stone and pampas garden🌾

Report Check-In

nice place with great view on the Ocean. nice owners and little noise from 101
seccond night a pullout just closer to westport and to the beach

Report Check-In

Great little (pretty big actually) spot. We arrived after dark after changing plans. Is a perm resident there. Not sure about a few reviews back where it is private property and that resident “runs” the place as it doesn’t appear like it could be zoned for anything at all; but who knows. We had a nice night and would def stay again.

A fun ‘spooky’ fact, this is the spot the Hart family drove off the cliff in a murder-suicide! There’s a little memorial there. Check out “Broken Harts” podcast for the full story.

Report Check-In

I stayed here and the description is right on. Beautiful but cloudy

Report Check-In

nice quiet oceanside pull off. no amenities. A little Verizon service by the water that fades our as you get closer to the road.

Report Check-In

This spot is privately owned and the permanant camper living here is actually a couple that watches over the lot for the owner. They seem very nice and keep the lot clean. He told us the owner is gracious enough to allow boondocking on this lot.
Little history from the "host": In the late 1800s (? year), a hotel once stood to your west, but has since eroded away to the pile of rocks you now see. This location is the parking lot for that hotel. Rumor has it, that the home across the road, just east of the bridge used to be a brothel. Ships used to line the shore here and the steel near the host's site are the anchoring remnants for those ships.
Great place to stop with ocean views!

Report Check-In

This is a great location. Perfect view of the beach. Arrived in the evening and there werena few other people here. Can smell smoke from the wildfires but it isn't too bad.

Report Check-In

Great voews of the sea. Quiete spot. Clean. One other rv that appeared permanent bit was safe

Report Check-In

Someone living here full time. We stopped but didn't stay. There's another puloff 3min down the same road.

Report Check-In

Amazing spot! There is probably a new guy pretty settled down here, but it’s totally safe to stay! Spend a night, had a fire and a great talk with another traveller, many others were around.

Report Check-In

Big pull off overlooking the ocean. Plenty of space for big rigs. Amazing view! The “hoarder” that is previously mentioned is still here along with another guy in a Jeep that seems to have permanently moved in as well. So now there is two.. It’s unfortunate and a eye soar for such a beautiful place and will probably lead to the dreaded “no overnight” parking signs. That said there were other overlanders here when I stayed and everyone just kept to themselves. Didn’t seem sketchy and would definitely stay again.

Report Check-In

Superbe endroit très belle vue sur la mer près de la route mais c’est la 1 donc très peu de trafic

Report Check-In

Update: it is 9/27/19 and the hoarder still lives there. There is plenty of parking here, but we are going to keep moving because I don’t really want to be neighbors with a tweaker 😬

Report Check-In

Nice pull-out, but there are many many more at least as good as this one all along this coast, from Ft. Bragg northwards.

As of 6/15/19, one hoarder van-dweller seems to have taken this spot as his residence.

Report Check-In

This place is absolutely perfect. Star gazing, ocean, huge parking lot and far enough from the highway. It’s a must see :)

Report Check-In

Stayed here for the night. We arrived around 6pm, and there was quite a bit of road traffic, but quieted down for the night. The views are absolutely unreal. My favorite place we’ve camped so far. There were 3 others that camped here as well. Felt safe, and nobody bothered us.

Report Check-In

We didn’t spend the night but there were a couple RVs parked that appeared to be camping. Looked like a beautiful spot.

Report Check-In

Large pullout on the 1 . The view is outstanding, perfect to enjoy the sunset & star gazing.
