Recanto Akaiaka | Established Campground

After finding the Parque Municipal Harry Hobus at Rio do Sul unsuitable for tents. 9km northeast of Rio do Sul is Recanto Akaiaka. I received the warmest welcome of anyone anywhere. The family insisted I use one of the cabins for free as a storm was forecast. Just off BR470, the campsite is behind the Cafe bar and up the hill near the Main Restaurant far enough away for the traffic noise to be not noticeable. The cabins each have a sheltered porch area with BBQ pit, sink with water and nestle under the shade of the pines. For campers, there is a sheltered kitchen area too. The restaurant is popular for good reason, serving excellent quality food in a spacious lounge or out on the balcony overlooking the lake. WiFi is free and open and strongest in the restaurant or swimming pool area. I intended stopping here for just one night on my way from Foz do Iguacu to Florianopolis but I stayed an extra day because it was so nice. Mauricio and Karin who run the camping and restaurant enjoy new visitors as does their son and his partner, Marcelo and Laura that run the Cafe down near the road. Tiago gave me his phone number if I needed anything translating to English. Mauricio took me for a ride and showed me the local area. I'd recommend stopping here for accommodation and for food.

Lugar muito agradável, próximo a rodovia BR470. Os proprietários muito amigáveis e um ótimo restaurante e lanchonete.
