Description

PRICE (June 2022): 150 NAD ppn.
Nice campsite with beautiful views, under very shaded large acacia trees and overlooking Hoarusib (dry) river. Flush toilet, hot showers, nice owners. No power, no electricity, MTC signal with slow "E" internet. They can organize himba village visits and elephant tracking. Firewood available for purchase for 40 NAD. Diesel available.
Really beautiful views from those camping spots located by the dry riverbed. Open sky toilets and showers like it should always be in the desert. We were the only campers and water was working perfectly including hot showers. Remember to bring change for payment. They don't have 100 NAD bills for change... Also beware with the water from the tap. Although they said it's good drinking water from borehole, when we filled our gallons it turned out to be quite brownish and dirty with insects.

beautiful camp along the river. Chips, the owner, is a very kind and helpfull man. Camp is well maintained. Private ablution. Best shower in Puros.

Report Check-In

Always 150N p.p.p.n. We really loved to rest here during 3 days. Unfortunately no elefant in january but we saw girafes. Chips is really friendly. Quiet campsite, big lots, bathroom with hot shower (ask to Chips to prepare it). The way from seissfontain to purros is not in a good state now....

Report Check-In

Everything as described. Very enjoyable stay. N$150 pppn.

This is one we love! As previous reviews mentioned, Chips is a great host. The site provides excellent view on the river with giraffe and elephant roaming about. Lots of fire wood everywhere. Hot water provided as requested. Water potable. We stayed two nights.

Really beautiful campsite. Very nice owner (chips). Price is still 150N$pppn. Went with Chips (with own vehicle) to search for the dessert elephants and we saw 6 of them! He is a great guide and he really does his best to track the elephants. Very recommended.

Spent 2 nights here and took a drive to see some of the stonemen that are not on the main routes. Great campsite. Lots of Birdlife and saw a lone giraffe in the dry riverbed. NAD 150pppn

This was one of our favourite campsites in Namibia! Gorgeous setting and really nice facilities. We had water both nights we stayed and they supplied us firewood. The host of the campsite is so helpful and took us to the Himba village which we enjoyed. Can also recommend the drive out to the skeleton coast view point.

First day when we arrived a note in the reception said the keeper went ”in a meeting”, never came back (his phone was off, too: +264813383379), so we heated our donkey shower ourselves. Let’s see will he turn up tomorrow. Nice facilities, running water, private ablutions on every site.
Great views on the dry Hoarusib riverbed, nice and easy drive via the riverbed, very little water atm.
Edit: The guy showed up around 7pm (long meeting, obviously). We stayed for 2 nights, on the other day we asked the donkey to be heated for 5.30pm and some firewood: you guessed, the guy was nowhere to be seen. He stood us up. Lit our donley ourselves, again, and didn’t get any firewood. Also, the water ran out in the middle of the shower. Nobody around to fix it. After dark, 3 smaller guys came by to ask is all OK. Told them, they called the owner (who was in Opuwo), agreed that the first guy will bring us a N$100 back in the morning — he (you guessed!) never showed up! Left a bad taste from this place, unfortunately. Would be a nice place otherwise on a nice spot.
Very lousy ”service”, otherwise nice campsite. Price is still N$150/pppn, but we didn’t get what we paid for now, so left disappointed.

We can only say, if you are in Puros, stay here! Awesome place at the dry river with spectacular view. We had a full moonrise in front of our camp and beautiful sunrise with giraffes and elephants. Unforgettable place. The guy that runs the camp is so friendly, even managed to find us a car mechanic! We stayed for two nights, saw the dessert elephants and drove to the viewpoint. Spectacular! Facilities are great for what you might expect in the middels of nowhere, hot donkey shower every morning and evening and running water in every site.

This was one of our favourite campsites in Namibia. We only spent one night, but would have stayed longer if we had the time. Shane (spelling?) is very friendly and helpful. He made sure our ablutions were clean and our water was hot. The sites are very spacious with lots of shade and campsites 1 and 4 (we chose 4) have stunning views over and beyond the river.
Each site has its own toilet, shower, basin. They sell wood here (N$40) and diesel.
This campsite is so peaceful and tranquil. We will be back.

Clean, hospitable, cheap. AMAZING views! 🏜 Hot water, sink, flushing toliet, just no electricity. The guy here who runs it is VERY nice and helpful. One of our favorite campsites in all of Nambia. We looked at most of the other campsites, If you’re in Purros, camp here 😊

Splendid campsite, especially nimber 1, 4 and 5. We choose the 1, while waiting for a wonderful sunset, in front of dunes.
but unfortunately, éléphants have destroyed two days ago the water conduct, and we had no water. so we were obliged to move and go to another camp (okongo). but the owner was very honnest and said he will not be able to repaire before night. we appreciate his honesty, and recommand this camp with water !
