second option to see the crocodiles. Very nice spot to stay overnight, avoiding the difficult uphill piste. 1 hour walk (3km) to the actual guelta Matmata.
...but the 1st big croc was already 200m behind the car. They are very, very, very shy!
The piste was tricky. It was necessary to reduce air pressure!

Perfect spot to visit the Matmata guelta, 1h walking away from there. Strong wind in the morning was coming from inside the canyon.
You can shelter close to the palm trees using your vehicle as a windscreen.
Being there on a friday afternoon, we had a lot of people from the village. All very kind but a little annoying as they come very close to (almost inside) our 4x4. Be aware.
The place is beautiful.
