Description

Small border crossing - a good alternative if you are crossing to or from Puerto Natales. No gravel road on the Argentinian side unlike the crossing further north and a small town with two fuel stations. Very quick and non-thorough vehicle search entering Chile.

You can save some time entering Chile by filling out the customs form online at https://ingresoachile.cl/

It has changed opening hours on 01.01.2023: from 10:00 - 21:30. We were told by the border official that only this border is open, but not Paso Laurita Casas Viejas.

Border open, no sign of strike. Exited Chile as foreign owners of a Chilean plated vehicle. Quick and easy - showed the Padrón, RUT paperwork, and signed the 'Salida y Admisión Temporal de Vehículos' form, confirming that we will return the vehicle to Chile. Entered Argentina without any questioning of whether we had fruit, meat, dairy, seeds etc. No vehicle search either. Happy days!
