As described. Large BLM campsite. Still only $5/night. Toilets and trashcans on-site. Multiple SoCal college geology classes doing field studies had almost every site used.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
As described. Pick an empty site. FYI some campers forget to remove their pink tag from the post. It is best to go see when the check out date is and that site could actually be vacant for that day. Amazing views and quiet.
Different sites have weaker/stronger signals. A site with the best view from the top of the pit might be best.

stayed at a pull out right after the hill just before the pit. there were no signs saying not to camp there, it was perfect for my 22 foot motorhome.. and free!
Report Check-InRight outside of Bishop and has some good views. $5 but there was no camp host or anything so just put the money in an envelope in the morning. Dirt/gravel road in was pretty rough, and got very buggy at night. Cell service was ok though and good for a night in a pinch.
Report Check-In$5, gorgeous sunsets, overall a very nice affordable spot with cell service, close to bishop, concrete tables, fire rings, clean pit toilets, cute lost+found & book trade library, shade structure in middle, cell service spotty in lower campsites however these are more protected from the winds that can pick up. (best for tents)
only about 15 rigs on a Saturday night when arrived, tons of space
mosquitos at dusk are the only issue, dive bomb hungry mozzies!
Great place to stay for $5. Bumpy road getting in but worth it! Got in around dinner time on a Saturday and wasn’t completely full. Lots of level spots for camper
Report Check-InWe loved this spot - amazing mountains views, bug sky, quiet. We drove past Pit Campsites along phone lines to a well-used pull off site.

Report Check-InNice place, quite empty out of season. Close to Bishop. Price is now 5USD per vehicle.
Report Check-InVery busy on weekends, often full. Nice campground, lots of climbers. GPS coordinates are slightly off, follow the sign for Pleasant Valley, this is Pleasant Valley Pit Campground.
Report Check-Innothing fancy. 4 pit toilets. mostly climbers staying at the pit. still really quiet during the night.
