The Banana Bank Ranch is offering horse riding trips into the jungle. ($30USD p/p). We asked after a ride if we could stay overnight. This was no problem. They also serve family style diner. (15USD p/p). The premise is awesome, they have birds, parrots, etc. More than 100 horses live on the ranch. They have a great pool which is very well maintained. They probably only allow (free) camping if you either eat in the restaurant or if you do a horse trip. We enjoyed the place very much!

Stayed one night. We got a weird vibe from the first woman we talked to when we arrived, she seemed to be insulted that we wanted to camp and not pay for a room since they are a hotel. Called her manager and they allowed us, charged us 40bz for the night. When we asked if this included the swimming she said “I guess...” we did not feel very welcome to start, but the rest of the staff was awesome and super friendly, we spoke with the ranchers for quite a while. Really beautiful property, clean bathrooms, bins for our garbage, tons of wildlife and fireflies everywhere at night. Horse rides are now 60usd/person but we didn’t do that.
Report Check-InWe did not do any horse rides; we just went to camp. No charge other than patronizing the restaurant—and we also bought pool passes which were essentially a requirement with the heat. Lots of friendly locals there for the day, including kids for our son to play with. We were told we could park “anywhere” out front, and we snagged a nice private spot under a tree. Private and quiet, until the morning when it turns out the huge horse tour group gathered on our “back porch.” Haha.
