Mauritania
This is the location for the Passenger Iron Ore train station. I went to the other location on iOverlander and it is NOT for people. Maybe for vehicles, though I didn’t see where you could do that. This is a real station. I know that “all the taxi drivers know the location,” but when you are self supported on a bicycle, you need to know this kind of information.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
police tried to make us buy a ticket and told us it's no longer possible to ride the empty train(which isn't true)
probably the easiest way to avoid this is by just going a few hundred metres further down the track (east side) and jump on there. passenger carts stop at the station, but they're all the way at the very end of the train, so most of the train will drive past the station before stopping and you can just jump in there
Report Check-InNote that the train station is only open when a train arrives or leaves. The rest of the day it’s completely shut down. Right of it next to the toilets there is a guard living in the hut. He can give you information about trains or call a person who knows.
Report Check-InBe there at 1pm because the train may leave anytime between 1pm and 9pm. That's the advice that we have received in Auberge Sahara. There is a building that offers shade in the afternoon.
