A small parking lot at the top of a 3 mile dirt road. Windy, very rough and not well maintained at all. High clearance definitely recommended. 4x4 maybe. With the purchase of a $5 adventure pass it is ok to stay overnight in the parking lot. We had the pass, but we're not convinced anyone would have come up to check, given the state of the road. A picnic table with a small clearing would've maybe been a decent spot to pitch a tent if needed. It serves as a trailhead parking lot, but you need a permit to hike there. Pit toilets that had seen very little use were very clean. The parking lot had next to no level areas to park, but we managed to find one right in front of the bathrooms. Beautiful views and definitely secluded.

Road there was pretty well maintained, would definitely recommend AWD though. Car camped overnight for early morning hike. Hard climb up to Icehouse but it was worth it. As with most trails, saw a rattlesnake, poison oak and lots of bugs.

Pit toilets that had seen very little use were very clean even though they appeared sketchy at first because the windows were blown out from someone having target practice.
