Ametzofe | Tourist Attraction

The village itself is nice but the whole thing is a tourist trap. The share taxi leaves you in front of the "tourism office" where they want to charge you a tourist fee. 50 cedis to go up the mountain (which is a 15min walk) and 75 for the waterfall. They will try to give you a guide for everything. I climbed up the mount anyway and no one was there to bother. For the falls there is a booth, so I turned back and left.

The village is indeed in a nice location bit everything you could do as a tourist is quite expansive. Just to have the right to walk in the village, you have to pay 50 cedis. Waterfall and the canopee tour : 75 cedis. The walk to the top of the hill (20 min walk max) is 50 again... we left after a little talk with the tourist office woman. No hassle at all, but you have to pay.

Very nice village indeed, a totally different Ghana. People are actually nice here. No(t much) hassle, warm welcome, everyone greets everyone. Lovely vibe.

I slept in my car just in front of the tourist “office” (shack) and didn’t pay anything to anyone. There are some guesthouses as well but didn’t see any from the inside.

Main “square”, just next to the tourist office gets busy at 5.30am though so not to much sleep. Alternatively you could camp on/next to the soccer field I guess (much more quiet).

Lovely morning hike to mount Gemi, excellent views.

Very nice city. clean and very friendly people. You can walk to a waterfall and on a hill to enjoy the landscape.
(they charge for it 10ghc)
they offered us to camp in front of the tourist center and to give us the key for the toilet. All for free!
