Peru
We took this road following the bikepacking trail. The road is in okayish condition except for some deep rocky patches, but at some point the road ends as it has been completely washed away. You can see another trail (which should bring to Sacaycacha) on the other side of the valley but you have to cross the river to get there. We didn't want to attempt it with our motorbikes, maybe it's doable with a 4x4 or if you're on a bicycle you can walk it. Not sure how the trail is on the other side as we turned around but we saw a couple of cars parked there. No traffic whatsoever on this side, there is only a tiny miners settlement.
The road I'm talking about is not on iOverlander nor Google maps, it goes out of the 3N and follows the river
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
This road is tiring (by bike) for a descent but it is worth it. The canyon is so amazing.
We are in the dry season and it was really easy to cross the river. We crossed two times but the second time was a mistake. We should have gone a bit further down to reach a bridge. It would have been safer.
It is 22kms long and you better do it in the morning in my opinion because of the wind that is pretty strong in the afternoon. If you have the choice 😉
Enjoy the adventure!!
