Chile
Dusty place with a high wall against the wind. If you visit the Ghosttown you may ask to use their showers and the toilets even at night. Toilets were clean. Big parking lot at the Salitrera Chacabuco, quiet at night, normally open 'Todo los dias' from 9am to 18pm, fee 2500 CLP pP.
You can even pass the night here. you only need to pay for the visit of the ghosttown

Endroit calme, plat, devant l’entrée de la ville fantôme.Pas d’ombre, comme dans toute la région
Report Check-InAmazing place to stay with tent or big rigs, the keeper let us camp in a building with no roof but completely protected from the wind. The place is absolutely worth a visit.
We ended up paying 2500 CLP pp included the visit to the ghost town. Stargazing is excellent!
What an outstanding experience!
We came to visit for two hours - and stayed two nights.
That place is full of history and nice photo opportunities.
We asked Ricardo - one of the guards - if we could stay overnight so he let us drive into the town with our motorhome. He was super nice. Explained about the history, was super nice and patient with our three kids and shared his place with us. The other guard that came to change the duty every week was a heartless guy who closed himself up in the shed and made us clear to move. Fair enough. So try to be lucky and have a week when Ricardo is on duty. What a great heart and soul.
Toilet, cold shower were happily shared.
Make sure to spoil him with good coffee when you're there. He loves decent hot drink. ;)
Report Check-Inlovely guard. paid 2500 pesos each. potable water with strong chlore smell! cold shower. and spooky town 😬
Report Check-InThe price has increased to 2500p/p. but the visit is really good !
we even slept there, if you ask the guard you can enter and pass a very good and quiet night with facilities access all night !
Report Check-InAs described before - super
friendly guard! We were also allowed to sleep inside next to the restrooms :) only the dogs were a little annoying barking in the middle of the night. Place with lots of history!
What a great place to visit and to stay overnight with our mobile home. Super nice guard. There are clean banos and electricity. What else?
Report Check-InVery friendly guard! Let us stay inside the town next to the bano. He even moved his car so that we could park our van in the shade. Entrance 2000 clp pp. Maps in English, German and French.

Report Check-InWhen you enter you see a board with the text: closed in 1040 ...etc. And. .. That this was one of Pinochet dead-camps. Not a very nice spot. If you dont mind paying for a place where you might stumble over the corpse of a murdered political prisoner, go in.
Report Check-InDusty place with a high wall against the wind. If you visit the Ghosttown you may ask to use their showers and the toilets even at night. Toilets where clean.
