Description

Great campsite with awesome cottage options. Starting place for the toughest hike in SA - the Amapondo trail. Electricity at each site, restaurant with menu that offers something for everyone, friendly and welcoming staff. Great view of the valley from down in the garden. Bathtub with a view too!

Well shaded campsites. Only one big rig friendly site (low hanging branches).
Showers were hot and campsites affordable.
They host live music (that don't go late into the night) and a small artisanal Sunday market which is well supported by the local community.

If you're there, it is highly recommended to take a hike down through the indigenous forest to "Madonna's child" and "big tree".

Only suggestion is to improve on shower doors - but otherwise good spot with creative people

What a place to be free. Well shaded camping spots with electricity, plenty of birdlife, Samango monkeys, and the starting place for SA's toughest hike - the Amapondo trail.

Away with the Fairies offer quite a bit more than camping, we also checked out the chalets and were very impressed. The restaurant has versatile options for everyone (GREAT pizzas!)

The also host live events (that don't go late into the night) and a small artisanal Sunday market and are well supported by the local community. Very friendly and helpful staff and the trail down to Madonna's child is highly recommended if you're into indigenous forests and mammoth trees.

Also be sure to check out the "Fairies Heart Center", an amazing spot to regain some good energy. Ablutions were clean but if we could make one suggestion - is to change up the shower doors - good enough, but could be more private. Hot shower was appreciated.

Awesome spot, great hosts.

i stayed here after try the "supose better" place.
i dont understand the bsd reference before, is a perfect place. shadow, hot water, clean abolution and electricity in the park site.
150R, restoran and bar are very good.
nice view and very nice trails!

Avoid if possible. Campsite is muddy and under tree canopy. Ablutions did not appear to have been cleaned this year!

Good campsite that fits perfectly a 4x4 with rooftop tent. No views from campsite but beautiful views at the viewpoint/bathtub. Backpackers atmosphere only around bar and restaurant area. Ablutions working good but no charm. Craft tap beer at the bar but slightly above SA price for a pint (60ZAR). No Vodacom signal at campsite. Normally there's free wifi around reception/restaurant but it wasn't working because of a storm the day before our arrival. Lots of naughty monkeys around. Take care and never leave anything around or car open even if you're a few meters away. They have recycling bins for paper, plastics, tin and glass.

Agree with the latest reviews, some great camping spots in the woods away from the main backpackers / bar, which are accessible for small overlanding vehicles (we have a Hilux with a rooftent(. Great mix of access to a fun bar and good food, and quiet space to camp, and the access to the hiking trails to the waterfalls was a real plus, as well as the beautiful views from the viewing platform. Ablutions were nothing to write home about...

This is a good campsite. R250 for the two of us for per night. There was a spot big enough for our Iveco daily 4x4. We had pizza at the pizzeria and it was really good. Make sure to reserve a spot for the bath at the view point - it is amazing! You won’t ever have a bath or this again. Just write your name next to an open spot on the blackboard at reception. If you need to do your laundry you can call Jay, he will collect, wash, dry and fold for you. His number: +27 (83) 242-9157

Stayed at the campsite. Awesome little places to set camp and a restaurant just up at the backpackers for Pizza. Loads of hikes from the property boundary.

Camping Ground
• No electricity
• Nice places to set camp
• No views but surrounded by bush
• Great situation in Hogsback

All in all a wonderful stay with beautiful views and don't forget the world famous cliff bath!

Report Check-In

The trees in the campsite have been cleared to allow for rooftop tent camping now.

The bath on the cliff is pretty unique with great views.

I can’t recommande this place for their campsites. No maintenance, no order, no clean. 100R /ppn for that is expansive! I toll that to the Lady on the reception. But nice view, backpacker and restaurant/bar. Staff friendly. Hot shower. I hope that the owner make that in order. You can make a lot of walks in the area.

cool place. Had it's own pizza restaurant, decent breakfast, craft beers. A somewhat famous "bathtub overlook"

parking for bikes and cars. 200R for a dorm

Campsite more for backpackers with tents. Ablutions are a little run down. We could park the campervan underneath some trees and had a cozy spot although it was the parking lot. Fun bath with a view. Great hiking in the area.
